I don't have enough vacation to take off for disney and when they are out of school, so what are best times? We have normal school schedule, start aug 1st out may 19th, and we get first week of oct off for fall break. all the time off seems to be busy now including first week of oct (and it is hot!) so those who travel during school breaks, what would be your vote for best week?

thanks!

I like going during the Christmas holidays, but that's just my favorite time of year. We have also been during Spring Break, Thanksgiving, and the first full week out of school. I would have to say the least crowded of the times were the end of May or Spring Break (March)--March is cooler than May (a little bit ;) ) If you are going during the summer break and DO NOT like hot weather, don't go in July or August--it's miserable that time of the year!! Does my rambling make any sense? :rotfl2:

I have gone twice during the Holiday break for schools. We try to get there a day or two before New Year's and stay until the day before school starts back up. We have found that if we hit the parks at opening, take a break mid-day to nap...etc, and stay till park closing...this is great. It is also awesome to be in EPCOT for the New Year.

Jump in your plane, train, or automobile as fast as you can as soon as the kids say good-bye to school! We have done this, even over Mem Day and it wasn't bad at all! It was a little hot and more crowded over Mem Day, but still not as bad as summer and many kids aren't out of school yet. I would LOVE to try Christmas time, but who knows if we'll ever do it... :flower:

My first suggestion is to leave as soon as school is out! Next I would recommend Thanksgiving. It's crowded but doable as long as you know what to expect. Good luck!

Wow, I wish I had your schedule, May is absolutely my favorite time of year to visit WDW! The weather is perfect if you like it warm and the crowds aren't bad at all. We went mid-May when my oldest was in 2nd grade (May 11 - May 20) and it was wonderful. She's in 8th grade now so those days are a thing of the past...we go during Spring Break now.

Hey, I still think the first week of October is a great time to go. As you can see our history below, we are Spring/Fall break kinda folks... and I prefer the Fall break.

We're going the 2nd week in June (11th to 16th). Is is horrible then heat and crowdwise ?If OP is like me, it's almost too much to go imeediately after school is out. Trying to do end of school parties, graduations, and packing for the trip would be overwhelming! I agree August is HOT! We went at the end of August last time and it was 90+ every day but between the heat index and humidity it felt like 100.

ASAP in May would be my first choice. Then October, because it is still hurricane season.

If you can manage right after they are out of school, go for it..

otherwise, I would suggest the october week.. perfect time and weather is great.

Lucky you..my choices are end of June or November. both busy times

Crowd-wise it's not bad. Plan ahead, have ADR's, consult guidebooks about which days to do which parks, and you'll be fine. We usually go that time of June, too, and never wait more than 20 minutes for anything. Heat--yep, it's hot. And I'm a keep-me-out-of-the-sun kinda girl, but somehow we cope. Have a sit-down meal around 2:00, or head back to the hotel for pool or nap in the afternoon, or take in a show in A/C. Bring a battery-powered fan and drink LOTS. Enjoy!
