Hi. I was planning our first trip to WDW in May. Unfortunately my husband broke his ankle so we are having to reschedule. Opinions as to the best time of year to go? My kids are 5,6,7,9. Missing school for a week is OK with our school here. They are all good students. So I find it's wide open. I'm leaning toward the second week of May (no new things introduced at school) or Sept. (too hot and hurrincane season?). I could really use your opinions especially those of you who have done Disney in different months of the year. Like one month particularly best?

Sorry if this question has been asked lately. I've searched for a thread, but the only ones I could find were really asking about specific months.

Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks.:goodvibes

I've been there both times of year, and each has its good points and bad...

In September you will generally enjoy low crowd levels. It may have been more crowded these last few years with the introduction of free dining. I don't know if there will be free dining in 2007, but if there is then that's a pretty good incentive to go at that time!!! Hurricanes may happen, but I personally won't alter my vacation plans to account for possible hurricanes. If you get stuck in a hurricane, I understand that Disney takes very good care of you and is well prepared.

May is an absolutely beautiful month to go. The crowd levels are not as light as in September, but are still low enough to enjoy the parks without too much difficulty. There is very little rain that month (I've done two Florida vacations in May, each lasting 10-12 days, no rain at all either vacation.) Also, MGM tends to run it's Star Wars weekends in May and EPCOT runs its beautiful Flower and Garden festival that month.

Whenever you decide to go, have a wonderful time!!!!

We went in mid May of last year and had beautiful weather, warm and sunny but not humid, saw the flower and garden festival. Crowds were totally manageable, I dont think we waited longer then 15 minutes in a standby line.

We've never been in Sept. But we have in October and that weather was also next to perfect (towards the end of Oct) hope that helps.

We have been in Sept the last two visits. This is our favorite time to go because crowds are lighter since kids are back in school. However it is still very hot and humid.

I've been ther twice in Mayb and once in early July. May was much bettter. The crowds were nothing compared to the time in July. The weather was great too.

Definitely May. We went one year during the week BEFORE Memorial Day weekend, and the crowds were great! The weather was perfect as well -- not too hot, and not too cold. Kids could swim in the pool, but we were not sweating like crazy walking around the parks.

We left on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend and the crowds were swarming in as we were leaving. I remember that Saturday was the busiest day of all. We went to Magic Kingdom, just to walk around on our last day, and we were so glad not to have to fight any crowds since we had already been on the rides at least a couple of times earlier that week, with very little wait. Plus, we were able to get home with a day to relax and unwind before heading back to school/work.

Definetely May! When we went for 2 weeks in 1999 we had picture perfect weather and the crowds were light! We loved it so much we are going that time again!

We usually go in the summer months - July or last week in August - both very HOT - or first 2 weeks of December. We LOVE December! The weather is cooler, the resorts and parks are decorated so beautifully for Christmas, and the crowds aren't too bad. It's just a wonderful time of year to be in Disney!

After Thanksgiving and before Christmas week is great time. Low crowds, incredible decorations and moderate weather. We are going again this year!
