After a very hot and moderately busy Halloweentime trip to DLR, we are planning to return in either Nov or Dec in 2015. I have it narrowed down to the first week in Nov, the week before Thanksgiving week, or the first week of December. Priority is lower crowds. We'll have two small children that can't stay up too late so earlier closing hours are fine. We'll plan one day of our trip to fall on a Fri, Sat, or Sun so we can have the evening entertainment but will be visiting mostly during the weekdays. While it would be nice to see the Holiday decorations, I'm not stuck on it if the first week of Nov is much better crowd-wise.

Can anyone who goes during these weeks offer any advice or experience? I know about the parade taping and candlelight processional, which we'll likely miss if we avoid weekends mostly.
Thanks!

For lower crowds early November hands down. Once you hit late November, the holiday crowds start building as the decorations go up. All of December is now peak season.

I did the Thurs-Sun before Thanksgiving last year and found the crowds pretty light until the Sunday when it got noticeably busier. Early November might be a bit quieter but you may miss out on all the wonderful Christmas theming which I personally think is worth seeing. I'm planning my next trip for 2015 and am hopeful I'll be able to do that pre-Thanksgiving time again.

Wow, I did not realize that about December! Everything I've read online says the first week is relatively quiet with the exception of the candlelight processional which really only clogs Main Street.

If that was your experience just a couple days before Thanksgiving break week, I imagine even earlier that week would be even less crowded. I wonder if folks sticking around after the marathon mid-Nov will make things busier this year.
