Best time to call to add 1 night?

I need to add 1 night for a June reservation and cannot waitlist for it since I already have 2 waitlist for F&W. When is the best time of day to call. Are rooms automatically added back into the system when canceled or should I just call first thing in the morning?

I've had availability change during a call (ex. check at the start of a call but nothing, check again before hanging up and it became available) so I believe they're added back in as they're cancelled.
