Hey there! I'm new to this forum and was hoping someone could help me out. I am planning a vacation to Orlando this October. I know it's a far way off but I like planning early. My husband and I plan to spend 3 nights at RP before heading to Disney. I was wondering when is the best time to book for the room for RP (rate wise). Can I book now and ask to apply any additional discounts that come out later?

i booked my october stay last december.....
sometimes i book my rph stay in january....

if you plan to stay there on a weekend, book sometime in the summer.
probably august.
rph holds many conventions year round.
(the hotel does have a lot of rooms)
last year i checked in on oct 4th/tuesday.
i was in the lobby around 11ish on thursday the 6th. the check in line was really long.....

between 2 days, 800 guests checked in for a convention....

hhn is held on weekends during october. (F-Sa-Su with th starting in the second week of the month)
the weekends will fill up the hotel as it gets closer to the dates.
discounts might not be available if you wait until mid-late september to book.

if you go during the weekdays, rates are cheaper.

you can book now at rack and change later when discounts come out.

right now there is the stay more, save more rate for the general public.
the longer you stay, the better the discount.
i have a 9 night stay booked and received a great rate.

if you have AAA, you can book that for a discounted room.

only the APH rates are not out yet.

Around here, we don't recommend you get a package. If you just book your room, like mac says, watch for drops in the price and then call and have your rate changed. If you book a package, they charge for changes.

Thanks for the advice, Damo! I changed my booking today from package to a room only and hopefully it'll be worth it!

Historically, have there been APH rates during the HHN times? And if we are there on Oct 10-11-12 (wed, thur, fri) will HHN only be on the friday? Thanks

in 2010 and 11, the aph rates at rph dropped to $129/39 for the standard rooms in mid/late september. (for the october time period)

they went fast.

usually a travel agency will book blocks of rooms.
when they can not sell their packages, they release those blocks of rooms back to the hotel.

that is when you will see those low rates.

hhn will be on that thur, fri, sat and sun on the dates you inquired about.

I'm looking at the HRH for those three nights- so I should pobably go ahead and book the room and just haunt these boards or call the reservation line daily in September to look for the lower APH rates- don't you think?

the ap rate is not out yet for october.
you would have to book rack rate or use the promo rate that is out to secure your dates.

when the aph rates come out, you need to call and switch to the ap rates.
then, when the rates drop, call and modify that rate.

all the hotels only allow a certain % of rooms for discounts.

What is historically cheaper for HRH Club Level:

AAA
SMSM
AP

I know there is a 2011 Rate Thread...but I can't find it.

i would say the promo rates. this year it is SMSM.
if you stay 5 nights or more, your discount is greater with it rather than for a 3-4 night stay.

AAA can give up to a 25% discount depending on dates.
APH can do the same but if they are trying to move the rooms that have been released back to the hotels, those can go very low.

if you have a short stay, most likely the aph rate would be, could be the lowest rate.

i know you asked specifically for club.
club rates can drop but i don't remember how low they did drop (w/ap) last year.

the standard rooms were the ones that went the cheapest on the APH last year.

forgot to ask this when i answered in the other post.

what are your dates for the stay?

Oct. 9-14

Booked a club level room for HRH @ w/the SMSM 5 night savings rate:
- 306.75 / 321.75

4 adults

I'm trying to find the best deals for tickets. I have AAA, Loew's card, and we plan on purchasing BMG tickets also.

your hotel rates are higher than i saw online but that is because of the additional $50 per night for the 2 extra adults in the room.

UT has good rates on tickets to UO.
a lot of peeps use them and the company is very reliable.
i have used UT many times for my motherland tickets.

how many park days of your stay will you be in the parks?

flex tickets possibly could be ok price wise if you are doing 5/6 park days.

BMG has specials at different times of the year.
I would think AAA would give you a discount on those tickets.

i received my AAA magazine a few weeks back but don't remember if there were any specials listed for BMG.

you can pull that magazine up online if you didn't get your last issue.

better yet, go to the AAA website and check there for ticket prices for BMG.

Sounds like I'm gonna have to be a stalker on the boards. LOL. I'm aaaaaall about the discounts.

My travel agent has already booked the room at a regular rate, and will automatically change it if a discount comes up. But, I was just wondering if I got an AP...if the AP discount on a room would be significant which would make purchasing the AP a deal for me.

I cold kill 3 birds with one stone....maaaaybe:
- get tickets
- get a good discount on a room (eventually)
- get a discount on BMG

I wonder which discount is better for the BMG:
- the $15.00 off if I buy online via the website
- AAA
- or an AP discount

Oh yeah....do you have a link for the 2011 rate thread.

And THANK YOU for the help so far. You're always such a big help!

if you see my name in the october section for 2010, it states AAA rate.

that was changed to the Super Bowl rate that gave me those really freaking low rates....

it was a one time promo with a time limit to book.
i had booked in december 09, but switched when the SB promo rate came out.
it didn't get changed on the date/rate site by the thread creator.
