Best Time to Become AP

Hi All!

We're considering becoming Annual Passholders. Do APs ever go on sale for new passholders? Is there a "best time" to buy your AP?

Nope.
Nope.
And, you can purchase the AP at any time and just hold onto it. It won’t start “counting down “ until you activate it in-person on your first trip with the new AP.
(You never know when they might INCREASE the price, so buying earlier MIGHT be better than waiting.)

Never a sale on annual passes. If you happen to be Florida residents they offer passes cheaper and monthly payments.

It doesn't matter when you buy the pass. The first time you visit a park is your activation date. Th e pass is then good for one year. Should you chose to renew annual pass, as of now, you would be entitled to a discount upon renewal within a certain amount of time.

What everyone else has said, lol. With that in mind, the best time to buy then is when you'll best be able to utilize it. So, I wouldn't buy it too far in advance of your trip depending on how often you'll be going. The other good time to buy though is before a price increase, lol.

Typically the people here on the DIS have an idea before the yearly or more price increases. I too would not buy it too far in advance.

No discounts and price increases are never announced, it just happens, but you can usually hear rumors here. Best time to buy is when you are going to be able to utilize it and before price increases. APs vouchers don’t expire before activation so you can buy an AP and not use it for years. I have two APs that I bought last year with an expiration of 12/31/2030.

I wouldn't buy it too far in advance of your trip depending on how often you'll be going.

That’s not really a factor in when to buy.
(It can become an issue of when to actually USE a new FP for the first time.)

Over all, if a guest had purchased an AP in , say, the year 2015, or so, they would have saved a bunch over buying now... and still get s full year’s use starting whenever their next trilp to WDW occurs.
