Best Time of Day to Ride AUTOPIA?

We always skip this ride (for years, our youngest kids were too small for it, plus the fumes give me a headache). Lol, as result, my kids have never ridden it.

We are squeezing in just ONE day (a surprise trip for the kids!) at Disneyland (no DCA on this visit) in Mid-August (a Wednesday). That being the case, we are going to be in line an hour before opening, and we plan to close the park down (something we also never do). I'd like to fit in a few things that we don't usually (or in this case, never, lol) make time for. Such as, Autopia.

Opinions as to what time of day is best to ride it? (keeping in mind that we are using our first couple of hours for Fantasyland, POTC, Indy, and running up to Splash for FP's.

ohhhh, wait.....does Autopia have FP??

Autopia does have FP, but it doesn't skip the entire line and there's still a significant time sink involved even with a FP bypass. Nor would I recommend riding it too early as I've seen the cars backed up at the unloading zone behind all the empty cars. Basically there's no good time to ride it, but I probably would try for mid to late morning with a FP. Just budget a good amount of time for it.

Full disclosure, I am also not too fond of this ride and also find it very fumey so I have fairly limited experience with ride waits.

We love it at night! As the PP said, the FP only gets you so far, but it usually does split your time in half. We get one during the day and return towards closing. The course is so pretty with the street lamps, etc.

Thanks for the responses!

Hmmm, I'm leaning towards skipping it again. We love to hang out in NOS, Adventureland, and FL at night, and I don't want to sacrifice a bunch of time for Autopia.....not when we could trade that for an extra ride on BTMRR or something, instead.

Oh, well. No biggie. :)

It was better than I thought it would be, but I didn't have high hopes for it. :rolleyes1 I know what you mean about BTMRR - that is DD4's favorite ride! I don't think she's mentioned Autopia once since we returned, but everytime we talk Disneyland, it's all about meeting Rapunzel and riding BTMRR and Soarin'. It probably is less thrilling since she has a Power Wheels at home...

I haven't tried it at night. I'll put it on my list. It would be nice to do during the fireworks.

Go at the very end of the night. Get your other stuff in and then head to autotopia. As long as your in line when it closes you can ride. We did and had a blast. So much better at night.

I rode it in May, first time at DL (rode at WDW many times years ago, I loved it as a kid for some odd reason).

My friend said she never rode it, so I said, then we must ride. :rotfl: you know what, it was sort of fun. Maybe next time we will try it at night.
