Best time of day to do Jedi Training?

So, we will be at DL over Spring Break and staying on site. The kids really want to do Jedi Training, so why not? We can sign them up during EMH (and we are East Coasters, rope droppers, so a 7 am EMH won't be a big deal for us). But, what time would make sense? Right after lunch? Two-ish? Right before we would leave the park?

What have you done and what have your experiences been? Thank you!! (If it makes a difference, our kids are 6 and 8 and after we are done at DL we are going to visit family, so we probably won't stay all night at DL that day).

Aside. I've heard others talk of sign up early. Where is the sign up done?

You do need to sign up early. It's open during EMH and they will let about 1/2 of the spots go during EMH and then the other half right after park opening. The sign up is done in Tomorrowland, at the exit of the Star Wars Launch Bay. Here is the info from the DL website:

Registering to Participate in the Show
Younglings who wish to participate in Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple must register before the show.

  • You must be between 4 and 12 years of age to participate.
  • All participants must be present at the time of registration.
  • Please register at the kiosk located outside the exit to Star Wars Launch Bay. If you are unable to locate the registration kiosk, ask a Cast Member for help.
  • Registration begins when Disneyland Park opens for the day–including Extra Magic Hour or Magic Morning.
  • Availability is limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

There really is no "best" time. It's whatever fits your schedule. Last time we were there, we had a lunch at Rain Forest, so we knew anything around noon wouldn't work. So we picked a 2:15 time, or something like that.

I agree, it's what fits your schedule. If the park is exceptionally busy, it may be best to do it early afternoon, since that is usually busiest time of day, so good time to do something else.

As well, if you are late for sign ups you may not have much of a choice.

When my son did it, it was for the first show, because that was best time for us.

All of that makes sense. We won't be late; it is our first stop during EMH so I'm anticipating having several to choose from. I suspect during Spring Break that it will be exceptionally busy. So, early afternoon would be a good time to take a longer break from the crowds. I'm hoping that a 2:15ish will be available.

When we went 2 weeks ago we picked the latest time which was 4:30 or 5:30 and we ate our AO On the Go dinners during it while my 2 boys ages 7 & 9 participated. One thing someone else pointed out is that depending on the weather some of those afternoon times might put the audience & the participants out in the hottest part of the day baking directly with the sun in their eyes & wearing long robes. :/ Just something to consider...
