I'm debating whether I should spluge to sign up my family of 3 for a private photo session at the GF in the summer. My son is 8. I've seen a lot of posts that recommend either the early morning or early evening time slots due to the sun and squinting issue.

For those of you with families who have gone through the private photo sessions, I'd like to hear about the pros & cons of the early morning vs. the early evening photo sessions.

Thanks.

We've done it three times. First time the kids were 7, 9 and 10. We did an early evening photoshoot at YC, Poly and GF. It was good timing for us. Kids did the parks and swam during the day and then in later afternoon I got them ready for the photoshoot and we went to dinner right after.

No problems at all.

Thanks.

It seems like some folks mention the squinting issue with the morning sessions while other folks mention the sweating issue with the afternoon heat while others discuss that the photos are too dark in the early evening.

I'm leaning toward a morning photo shoot thinking that I have a better chance that my son will cooperate and agree to pose for photos before we have fun for the day. You never know what his mood will be late in the day after a tiring day at one of the parks, the heat, the lines, more line. . .

We did the morning session. Our photography was great about making sure that we were not in the direct sun so we weren't squinting. My DD was almost 4 at the time and this time was what worked best for us with her schedule. The pictures were great. Next photo session, we will again have the morning hours.

Thanks.

I have been going back and forth lately about doing this myself. From reading the posts on this board about it, I have decided that there are good and bad things no matter what time you have your shoot. I have decided to go for a morning shoot because that is what I think will work best for my kids. Like you said, my kids are more likely to cooperate in the morning and less likely to be moody as they would be later in the day.

I think I am going to call Disney tomorrow to ask about pricing for sure, since the more I read on here, the more confused I get.

we did the last session of the day in September at the Poly they were way too dark and they would not let us redo them later in the trip I would not do the last one again. I will see if I can post one small enough

just kinda dark the wind was strong but it was storm season

Thanks, everyone. I think that I'll try my chances with a morning photo shoot if we do one. I would love to have outdoor photos of all three of us. The photos that people have posted on the boards look great. I like the ones where the families color coordinate their clothes. I haven't gone shopping yet to get our outfits. My hubby just rolls his eyes when I tell him about the private photo sessions. :sad2:

I have to search the boards more and call to confirm the new pricing structure. I was so bummed out that I didn't get one of those $25 offers and was wondering if $75 was worth it. Now it sounds like it's more than $75, so maybe the $75 price wasn't so bad after all.

Tink_Or_Belle, that's a shame about the lighting. I'm surprised they couldn't do some photo editing. Have you tried the "Picasa" photo editing program? It's free. I got it from googling the name and downloading it. I was able to manipulate some of my pictures using the program to get a better result. You can keep the original and save the edited version as a copy.

I just wanted to offer a word about sunscreen. I used more sunscreen while on vacation at WDW. I didn't realize my face was shiny from it! I guess it was especially shiny from the flash. It was just a little thing but had I known I would've used bare minerals over it or used less for the photo shoot.

Overall, I loved our photos and would do it again. We got the photo session for $25 one year and the very next it jumped up to $75. But it was still worth it to us.
