When trying to get a hard-to-get reservation, time is of the essence. Clicking Continue has to be done at the perfect time. The other morning, I used my Macbook time which is set automatically to try to get an AKV value studio. I got a message that booking opens at 8:00 ET, meaning I clicked Continue a fraction of a section too early. That has never happened before. Not sure what has changed. If I can't depend on my Macbook to get an exact time, what should I use?

I use the clock on my iphone, I've got a value studio for my Christmas and Easter trips, just luck of the draw.

They should just put in a queue like they do for other things now. Enter what you want to book, if you are there before 8am it puts in you in the holding area, at 8am it randomizes and starts top to bottom filling all reservations it can.

Make the holding area open at like 7am or 7:30am which gives people enough time to lock it in while at the same time not allowing something to just put it in the day before without even trying.

LOL, I totally understand! FWIW, I tend to wait 2 seconds after the designated time to hit that [Continue] button. Being too early seems to carry a worse consequence than being a fraction too late on the booking pages.

I flip that strategy for last-second eBay bids. On eBay, I click 3 seconds earlier than I really needed ... trying to make sure I don't lose out due to internet latency. Find what works and stick with it, right?

As for device, I use generally use my Apple Watch ... but am focused on the second hand.

Yes, I need something with a second hand. Is there a way to see a second hand on an iphone?

You can see the second hand moving on the iPhone main screen.
Wow. I never looked so closely at the Clock app icon as to notice the second hand! Crazy how much information they've packed into such a tiny, dynamic icon. Cool. Thanks for pointing that out! :)

I have never noticed that either! Of course, it would be nicer if it was digital. So even when I click on the app icon and choose World Clock, I don't get a digital second hand.

Anyone know any ways to get a super accurate digital second hand?

I used my Apple Watch when we were at Disneyland to book boarding passes for RotR. They have lots of display options. My Garmin is also on world time, it syncs every time I connect the GPS.

I use a TARDIS I got off this guy in the UK, Dr. something-rather ...

works well because if I miss a booking I want, I can just back up a few minutes and try again
Yes! I need one of those!!! :rolleyes1

May have to borrow my son's Apple Watch.

Um ... and there is a reason you don't already have one for yourself? C'mon! They are great fun! You neeeeeed one! (For the second hand, of course.)
Haha. Nope, no interest in technology at all. I have an iphone and a macbook only because they are necessary. Plus I don't like things on my wrist. It's all I can do to wear a Magic Band!

I use time.gov and it is a couple seconds after.
But that's the thing. To get an AKV value studio, you have to click the button within a FRACTION of a second. You can't wait "a couple of seconds after." You would be too late.

In my experience, if you hit it exactly, it errors as too early.

Honestly, it really doesn't what "time device" one uses, it's the one at DVD/DVC's reservation computer that counts. Plus, your internet connection speed also comes into play. It almost seems like a lottery when it comes to getting those hard to get reservations. Good luck.

You are right. It does seem like a lottery. Getting value rooms is the ONLY thing I have any luck with. I've never not gotten one. In fact, I got 3 value studios last Thanksgiving. But I feel my luck may be running out. With most rooms booked before you can even try, it makes it even more important to know when to click the button when it's finally available.

The POS states it's first come first served for reservations so I don't think they could use that setup for booking.
