Best time around August/September?

I was going to take my son for his 4th birthday, but it falls on the Labour Day weekend, which might be more expensive/crowded. Is there a good time to go to the parks within 3 weeks either side of that date? Kind of like how the week after Thanksgiving tends to be a bit of a lull, is there anything similar?

I know that at some point after the long weekend a couple rides shut down (notably, Haunted Mansion) for the overlays, so I would prefer to avoid that.

Alternatively, if we did a week during HalloweenTime, are there any general thoughts on better weeks to go or avoid?

The middle of September has lighter crowds because school is back in session but Halloween parties haven't started. My experience last year was that HM closed in late August and reopened with the overlay September 9th. It was only down for 2-3 weeks.

No matter when you go it will be great!

We go yearly the last week of august, crowds are great, weather is great ...HM is closed through at that point but usually that's the only ride down

Haunted Mansion usually goes down in mid-to-late August depending on when HalloweenTime is slated to start. Space Mountain usually goes down the week leading up to the start of HalloweenTime (e.g., Mon to Thu). Last year, HM was closed 8/22-9/8 and Space was closed 9/6-9/8.

I really like HalloweenTime, so I would wait to go until after it has started. While the weekends will be busy, the weekdays aren't horrible (they aren't empty either, but I think it's manageable).

Wow, HalloweenTime starts much earlier than I thought. It might actually be worthwhile to go right when it starts, now that I think of it. Thank you!
