Hi!

We're planning our first trip to WDW! This May 4 - 17. That said there are 12 days that we will likely go to the park for at least part of the day (traveling with 6 yo ds and then almost 1 yo ds).

With the death of the Disney Club is there any other way to get AP's discounted? I think the water parks will be a little more than my 6 y.o. is ready for and I think the pool at the Boardwalk will be more than enough thrills for us! So we definitely don't need plus passes. I guess I'm looking for any discount info (if there is any) and an experienced voice to say that AP's are the way to go - or not!

Any and all advice appreciated. We're getting soo excited!

Thanks!
Stephanie

they say the break even point for an AP is 8 days or more. so sounds to me like you would probabyly want to get an AP. there might be an advance purchase discount. check over at www.wdwig.com look at the ticket comparison chart.

AP is probably the way to go - even more so if you can schedule another trip within the year ;). The only other ticket you can get to cover 12 days would be an ultimate park hopper (lenght of stay) and even if you can get a discount (DVC offers 10%, DC offers up to $20 off) it will still be about $430 per adult. You could go with advance purchase park hoppers thru a discount service, but you would need multiple tickets and would also spend over $420 per adult. A regular priced AP is only $391 per adult. If you can work a DC discount it would be $376.

As for DC - do you already have a membership that is expiring before your trip? If so, call them and they can extend your membership throught the end of 2003. If you do have a current DC membership that is expiring and you don't want to extend, you can buy vouchers for AP's now at the Disney Store at the DC rate and then redeem them for the actual passes when you get to WDW.

Disnee Dad Says................................AP's all the way!! Try real hard to plan the second trip as those "free tickets" get ready to expire! Like we did and we are from Nor Cal too!
We went to the parks everyday of both trips, but with the pressure off to see everything, sometimes we would leave after lunch.
A far cry from our first trip, ultimate commando in 1997. Five days park and two days to dress the bloody wounds, set broken bones, breath, and go to KSC and DD, and most of the resorts! When the blisters got real bad I would walk on my hands and carry DD! I did cheat and wear gloves! Eating and sleeping at the same time really helped! AND WE STILL DID NOT SEE IT ALL, though we came damn close!!

The only discounts other than DC are Florida Resident (don't qualify) or military. If you have military ID, you can get a discount thruogh Shades of Green. The link below has info about AP's and there is a link there to learn about the military discount.

Even if you can't find a discount, you will still be better off buying AP's - especially if you can plan another trip before they expire.

It is unfortunate (for all of us) that there are so few ways to get an AP at a discounted rate... but they are still the best way to go! Get an AP and schedule your next trip!!
