I have done nice steaks, eggs benedict (packet), and pancakes. What is the best meal you have ever cooked in a DVC Resort? Disclose any additional equipment please!

An entire Thanksgiving dinner for 5 adults at a one-BR at BWV! Turkey, multiple sides, etc. Did everything from scratch, though I staged it so that I could start the day before with things that would not suffer if premade and reheated. The main extra “equipment” I needed was multiple casserole dishes that I brought from home. Also brought several serving trays for appetizers, etc.

I did a whole Thanksgiving meal too in a 1 BDR at OKW.....invited our Florida friends to dinner that day and for turkey and waffles the following evening. It was a challenge with one oven, but I got it done!!!
I was about to say that the Thanksgiving dinner was the best I ever cooked, but then I remembered-we ordered it and just reheated it. So I guess I'd have to say the DiGorno Pizza I made last time we took the grandchildren. Took the frozen pizza out of the box, cooked it the required time and temp, and voila! Otherwise we mainly reheat, leftovers, etc. Grocery order is mainly for fruit, beverages, cereal, and frozen pizza!

Christmas morning in 2020 while at Riviera Resort,- I made an Eggnog French toast casserole and our traditional sausage and egg hashbrown bake. I packed the spices that we needed ahead of time, and we stopped at a Publix on the way in from Universal. We usually just make sandwiches and breakfast while at the resorts. I'm in awe of you guys making a full on Thanksgiving dinner. I sweat bullets just trying to put that together in my home kitchen.:)

July 2020 we were staying at the Wilderness Lodge. We had invited friends to stay with us and decided to cook instead of eating at the restaurants.

For dinner we made steaks on the gas grills near the cabins with baked potato's, grilled asparagus and salad.

For breakfast the next day we made eggs with breakfast potato's, corned beef hash, bacon and English muffins.

We are early risers so we always purchase eggs, bacon and bread/bagels. We are usually eating breakfast by 630 and ready to be out the door after 7. It’s not fancy but I love having the kitchen for this so we aren’t having to wait for the quick service to open at 730 or whatever it is. Dh was always going to grab a bounty platter right when I thought we should be leaving for a park. Now, he gets his protein and I get my early park openings.

I work in a hospital so I haven’t been able to get Thanksgiving off yet, so haven’t tried that yet. I get stressed trying to cook it at home so I’m sure we’d be eating out that night anyway. My SIL and brother have been to Fort Wilderness multiple times over Thanksgiving and have somehow managed cooking Thanksgiving dinner there. (Although they travel with enough people to have 3 kitchens and 3 cooks all sharing the duties)

I cooked up an excuse to eat at a restaurant every night based upon the "savings" of having a bowl of cereal for breakfast each morning.
We definitely eat out plenty as well!

The wife and I have always enjoyed cooking together - it is one of our favorite things to do especially on vacation. Come to think of it - I don't think I have had a vacation in 7-8 years without staying in lodging that didn't have a kitchen. Outside of DVC we have only stayed at VRBO's.

Stayed for Christmas in 2022. We were in a 1BR at SSR and my son was in the DCP. We celebrate on Noche Buena (Christmas Eve) so I made a pernil, arroz con gandules and pastelon for a scaled down PR Christmas dinner. My son's co-workers were very happy. The hallway smelled SO GOOD! Planning on doing it again at Kidani this year so if you smell roast pork, come knock on the door and maybe you can have a plate! LOL

I have cooked my version of the Garden Grill breakfast, the pre pandemic one. Started with cinnamon buns, some fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, potato barrels, Mickey waffles (yes we brought the Mickey waffle maker), sausage, bacon, toast ( as you know GG doesn’t give you toast) and coffee that you would want to drink, not the stuff they serve.

We did Thanksgiving at a 2BR at VGC. We brough a whole bunch of stuff with us, crock pots, pans, etc. Security was actually in the hall kind of monitoring the bell services person unloading our stuff. I peaked out, told him I knew the rules that nothing would be cooking without a human monitoring and he was welcome to some Turkey and Tamales in a few days. He laughed, said it looked like we knew what we were doing and went on his way.

It was a memorable family gathering. Looking forward to the remodel to perhaps save up some points and try for a 3BR for the next attempt.
