Best thing to do on St. Maarten?

Any suggestions for the best thing to do on St. Maarten? We will have two kids, DS 14, DD 8. Don't mind separating if something is great for the older son and dad (regatta or kayak). We are not big shoppers and daughter does not want hair braided. We do like the beach however shallow is better for daughter.

Hi, neighbor! Good to see you on the boards again. The 12-metre regatta comes highly recommended by almost all who've done it. You and DD might enjoy the See & Sea tour. It's an island tour, you get an hour in Marigot, and you take a trip on a "semi-submersible" submarine out to a coral reef where a diver attracts fish to the windows of the viewing area by feeding them.

If you visit the shopping area in Philipsburg, be sure to practice your polite, but firm "no thank you", because you will be approached by the braiders. Most of them will respect a polite "no thank you" if you are firm.
