We have done all four and each has its strengths and weaknesses:
CRT - the best experiences here are during character meals, particularly breakfast, which during the pre-dining program golden age of Disney dining was
the crown jewel, a special and scarce opportunity that was as tough or tougher to book than the grossly overrated LeCellier is now. That stated, take the characters away and what you end up with is an acceptable but pricey meal in surroundings that are impressive (unless you are fortunate enough -- as I was as a child -- to dine in some
real castles in Europe. Then the "fabrication" of the Disney version may disappoint somewhat).
Disney version of castle meal:
The real deal: 700 year old dining hall that can be reserved for private banquets in the Chateau de Chillon (second photo) in Montreux, Switzerland.
LTT - solid and cozy "packaged" experience (fixed menu). We did dinner here and if the characters hadn't been present I would have rated this as one of the "
did it but no need to return" meals of our WDW experiences. Food was O.K. and if family style is your thing that's another plus.
Crystal Palace - did this once on our first trip when our kids were small, which was the right timing - relatively generic buffet but a lot of fun if you have young ones. This definitely falls into our "
did it and no need to go back" category.
TTS - perhaps the sleeper of the four. Did it for the first time last week (lunch). Given the historically mixed feedback this place gets we were surprised at the quality - all of the food was good and some approached
very good. But the icing on that cake was the the service, which was excellent (prompt but not pushy and very friendly).
