We'll (2 adults) be in St Petersburg for one month in January-February 2009.

We'd like to visit Sea World and Busch Gardens (maybe a couple of days each park) while we are there. Can anyone tell me what the best deals are? Historically, are there better times to purchase than others? Should I be concerned about the sale of A-B?

If you are going to want to be there for multiple days, from what I can see, it's cheapest to build your own passport.

I'm still in the planning stages, so I may not have stumbled on all the deals/coupons yet....but here's what I've found (now my trip is in 2008, so prices may vary for 2009).

The online price to buy a one park (Seaworld OR Busch) is $59.95 for adults or children. This gets you ONE park for 2 days (2nd day must be used within 7 days of 1st use).

The online price to buy a TWO park (Seaworld AND Busch) is $89.95 for adults or children. This gets you unlimited admission to either park for 14 days from the date you first use the ticket. It also includes their free shuttle bus between the two parks (Seaworld in Orlando and Busch in Tampa) so you won't have to pay for gas to go back and forth from the two parks....that's a bit more of savings, as the two parks are about 140 miles round trip. I don't know much more yet about the shuttle, like how often it leaves, how comfortable it is, etc.

If you are thinking you'll want to go for a longer span that 14 days, they have a build your own passport. For $159.95 you can get a passport that entitles you to unlimited admission to both Seaworld and Busch Gardens for 1 year from first use.

Both parks have water park add ons, but we're going in Nov/Dec so I'm not thinking we'll want those.....you're going in Jan/Feb which is a little warmer, but still not what I personally would call water park weather, lol. But if you do want those, the cost is a bit higher just click to add one or both water parks to your build a passport option....highest is 2 parks, 2 water parks $259.95.

Like I said, I'm still in the research phase, so there may be coupons or other deals I haven't found yet. Hopefully if there are someone will post here telling us!

Jan/Feb is colder than Nov/Dec. I can swim in Nov but wouldn't dream of it in Feb!

Well, last year monthly data:

November 2007: High 82 low 45
December 2007: High 82 low 37
January 2008: High 80; low 32
February 2008: High 76 low 39

So, sounds to me like average for Jan is the worst. We were there in Jan/Feb 08, and swimming in our vacation home rental quite a lot. Early morning was rough, but daytime and even early evening was nice. There were a couple days that it got cloudy and cooler, but we never needed long sleeves or jackets except after dark our whole month long trip. I'm hoping this year Nov/Dec is similiar as I plan to pack about the same!

Frankly, I doubt I'd do waterparks any of those months.....the pool was heated (though not bath water temp unfortunately, lol) and I seriously doubt the water park waters are heated.
