Hello ladies and gents...

before I go out and spend money on tanning lotions.. I thought to myself.. "self, why don't you ask the people from the disboards .. I'm sure they have a wealth of knowledge they'd like to share!"..

so here I am asking, which sunless tanning lotion is the best in YOUR opinion???

thanks everyone! only a little more than four more months for me to go till my DFTW! :cool1:

Oh I would love to know other people's opinions too. I saw the new dove tanning lotion at Costco and was tempted to buy it.

i've tried neutrogena instant bronze...it's a foam and it works really well. and you can get it in different shades depending on how dark a tan you would like. just make sure you wash your hands several times while you're applying it so they don't get an orange-y tint!

I've tried a lot of different ones (I'm VERY pale). I'm now using one I like: L'Oreal Sublime Bronze for face/body. I also bought the towelettes (for face) and that's an easy way to apply. Nice, natural color, no scent.

I am like a milk bottle, and as i work as a beautytherapist, know a thing or 2 about faking it!
IMO st tropez is probably the best self tan cream. It has a very natural look, the only downside is you look like you've been mud wrestling once you've applied it!:rotfl2: (worth it for the end result though)

I second the ST.Tropez! It works great. I am not that pale but it makes my skin look extremely tanned

I use Jergens Natural Glow.I am very fair skinned so everything I would use I would turn orange lol.

They come in light medium and dark complexion so I use the light and it really does look like a natural tan

Whatever you do, don't skimp on the exfoliating step. Ohhhh orange knees and ankles...

If I were to self tan again, I'd probably do a Mystic Tan. Those self tanners aren't cheap, and I always end up blotchy and smelling funny.

Another vote for Jergens - I would always screw up sunless tanners so putting it on gradually works for me. Word of Warning - i've turned many white bras tan by putting in on before I get dressed - make sure its completely dry first.

Also second the exfoliation step and I would shave too before you start using it

Jergen's natural glow vote!! I used it for my wedding and it did wonders!! :)

I also use the Jergens pretty much every day. It's good and doesnt smell too weird. It will leave color on your clothes though!

My sister has done Mystic and she liked it a lot. If you do that though you should try it once a couple months before the wedding just to see if you like it. You wouldnt want to look orange and blotchy for all those wedding photos!!

yeah man, so many of those lotions have such a yucky smell! :headache:

maybe I'll try the mystic tan thing once and see how I like it.

Thats what I was thinking about doing. The Mystic is worth a try!

Or I might just go to the tanning bed even though I know I shouldnt! :rolleyes1

I will only use Faux Tan by Bare Minerals. It has a wonderful smell and its tinted so you can see where you put it on. It's worth every penny that it costs. I'll never wear anything else (and believe me, I've tried almost all tanners over the years until I found Faux Tan.) I just ran out so I grabbed a bottle of the Jergen's natural glow to get me by, and it STINKS so bad I only wore it once and gave it away!!

If you're very fair you can mix 1/2 of the Faux Tan with 1/2 of your regular lotion to start out with the color gradually. To get your hands clean just use a bar of soap to wash them. Some ingredient they put in bar soap gets the color off completely. (I have to wash my hands 3 or 4 times when I do my whole body).

EDITED TO ADD: QVC is having a special kit on Friday the 27th you may want to check out. It has the tanning lotion in an extra big size and 2 bronzing powders, along with a few other things in the kit. You can watch the presentations at 12midnight-2am, and 10am-1pm. I'll be ordering it for sure!! I swear by the stuff, it really is that good!!

how long does a bottle last you? i'm thinking of ordering...

Prolly depends on how much/where you use it - if you just do your extremeties or you do the whole body. I do my legs/arms right now, and only do a full body about once a week. The 16 oz bottle lasts me 6 months.

Here's a picture of the kit coming out at midnight Friday:

The bronzer powders look dark, but they don't go on dark. You use just a dusting out of the lid.

It might seem like a lot of money for the kit, but the products will last you 6 months to a year!!

abeyst -- can you use it on your face as well? I'm thinking of ordering it now too as much as you raved about it....

and what's the difference between the powder and the stuff in the bottle? :confused3

and the "extra big" size you're talking about is 16 ounces right? like in the QVC link? ohh, I really want to look nice and tan but not TOO dark or unnatural for the wedding, you know what I mean? just a nice little glow.

A56099 is the 4 oz size for $22

The link I gave is the 16 oz size (with extra stuff) for $53.

I always order the 16 oz bottle, and when I travel I put some in a little 2oz travel bottle I bought at Target for $1.

I use it on my face everyday. Sometimes over my moisturizer, but most times in place of my moisturizer.

The lotion gives you an even, tanned look. I use the bronzer powders to give me accents or a sun-kissed look. They call them all over face color, but you can use them on your face, arms, chest, eyes, or dip your lipstick/chapstick/lip gloss in the powder to change your lip color. I mainly use them to give me a little of a tanned glow on my cheeks and chest when I'm not applying the tanner so dark on my face.

I don't know how tan your are right now, but what's nice about the Faux Tan and the kit is you can go super light and tan gradually by mixing some of it with your regular lotion, or you can go tan in 2 days. The Faux Tan is a great product, but start using it slowly and gradually. Some people shy away because they apply too much too fast as if it was a tanning lotion like Jergens or Neutrogena that you can buy at a local store. If you start it slowly and gradually get used to the lotion you can do just about any color you like. This weekend it was in the 70's for the first time and my legs were white as a ghost. I used the Faux Tan 2 days and on the 2nd day my legs/arms were tanned. It's nice to be able to tan that fast so quickly. But you've got a few months til the wedding so you have time to experiment with the color and application, should you choose to order it.

If you order it, they do have a 30 day guarantee. You can send it back and they will refund the entire price - including s/h you paid with your purchase (they won't refund what you paid to send it back). But give it at least 2 weeks to test it out.

I hope I didn't say too much to scare you away. It is a great tanning lotion, and I believe in it 100% and won't wear anything else (and haven't worn anything else for years). Feel free to PM me if you get it and have any questions or problems with it.
