Best Suggestion for Quick Trip

My DW and I will be activating our annual passes this coming September. This trip is just the two of us. We are also planning a trip in June of 2019 with the family, so that's two trips for using our passes.

Frontier airlines has just announced direct flights out of Harrisburg to Orlando. We don't have points to use, those will all be accounted for, but we would like to take a mid-winter trip, perhaps January or February to sneak another mini vacation, maybe 4 or 5 days.

What would be our best option for accommodations? Before we bought DVC, we would stay at PORS. Loved it there. As AP holder or DVC members, what discounts are or might be available? Would renting points be smart? I know there is no right or wrong answer. I would like to hear other's thoughts.

Renting points would give you a chance to stay at a Non-home ahead of the 7 month window. And it may well be the lowest cost. AP discount could be 25-30% if available. DVC discounts are 25%, only at DVC resort, and often are NOT available.

I would go and look to "rent" an allotment of points to be transferred to you, that way you can control the reservation. I have done this a few times, I would look for someone with a large block to get rid of that fit my needs - sometimes can get a good price on a transfer this way. I have not done it in a few years but it was easy, just keep in mind that a member only gets one transfer a year. Something to think about.
