Best stroller for a 52 pound boy?

We currently have only one of those black Jeep strollers and he looks huge in it and his feet touch the ground, whats a good (and cheap) stroller for a little bigger kid?? Too big to carry!!!

Also like to mention, will also have our daughter who also weighs about 52 pounds, but she will be walking a lot more.. what are our options???

He is about 45 inches, probably just for Disney, been a long time since he has used a stroller

Hmmm my DD is about 44 1/2 inches (just measured her to check for ride heights!) and 4.5 ~ when we were there in January/February she walked every where. We rented a stroller to do the countries in Epcot since it was a whirlwind "have" to hit every Kidcot station trip.

Even those seemed a little "small" for her.

I actually had intended to rent just a single ~ but when we went to pick up the single the nice CM offered a Double so I said sure. They handle fabulous and you don't have to lug them on the bus or airplane.

Just a thought.

She did use our sit and stand stroller previous trip (at age 4) and even that she was a little large for.

Most strollers seem to go up to 40 or 50lbs.

And I think he would walk a lot, we are thinking perhaps too much as he is a very active kid, thought about the stroller as a way to contain him at least a little..

He looks funny as hell in these little strollers, but he won't turn 4 for another month and we are going in June for 13 nights, by the end he could be wiped out..

I agree with a Maclaren. The Volo is the lowest/cheapest model, but hold up to 55lbs. I have 2 other styles of Maclaren but I believe they all push like a dream, regardless of the weight of the child.

My DS just turned 4 last week. He is a little over 50 lbs. and about 43 inches tall. He doens't use a stroller at home anymore but in Disney we use the Maclaren Triumph and it works great. He rides in it about half the time in WDW, but we are always glad we have it. We had a very long walk at the AKV last year to our room (anyone who has stayed in Kidani knows about the endless hallways!) and a few times he was sleeping so having our own stroller was a godsend!

I would test out the volo prior to buying it, by the time my dd was about 45lbs the sides of the stoller looked like they were bending under her weight & t was VERY hard to steer and turn.

We have a Baby Jogger City Classic now but they are very pricey. You may want to consider renting them from Orland Stroller or Magic Strollers.

I also love the Volo for DS but he is not as heavy yet. We also have the BJCM, but as the pp said they aren't cheap, but that may be a better choice, esp. if you can rent one. Maybe rent the double so your daughter can ride too when she wants.

I also would recommend renting one of the jogging strollers from Magic strollers or Orlando strollers. If you don't use it at home, no use in purchasing one. Sure it probably costs the same as buying a volo, but in my opinion, your ds is too big for the Maclaren volo. I think he'll look pretty scrunched in that one as well. My almost 5 yr old dd is 38 lbs, and 42 inches and looks too big for it. We also have a BOB duo, which is similar to the jogging strollers the 2 companies above rent, and she has lots of room in that one.

My dd will probably walk most of the time when we go, but we plan on renting the double from Magic strollers for our 2.5 yr old, adn then she will have a seat if she wants one. We would love to take our BOB, but I know both my dh and I will be uncomfortable leaving it (it's too pricey to risk). Both Magic and Orlando rentals have the option to add insurance for $25 that covers you during your stay. Worth it for our peace of mind!!

Another vote for renting a stoller form ORlando Strollers. Their city classic goes up to 70#, and they have doubles avaialble as well. We bought a Volo back in 2008 on Ebay for our last trip...DS was 42" and about 50#...width wise, he looked a tiny bit "scrunched" at the shoulders...he never complained, though....it just didn't look completely comfortable.

I'd look at renting a single stroller from Orlando Stroller Rentals. I think you'll be glad you have a stroller Kids get worn out fast at Disney!

I would have to say if you think you might need it - rent a stroller from Disney.

Here's why I say this....We had a sick 9 year old last August (he had a virus that made him run a fever off/on our entire time there). We rented a single for him to use. He is skinny...only weighing 60 lbs. and 4 1/2" tall. He was very comfortable in it and it PUSHED LIKE A DREAM!

My DD who's 7 and "much" larger than her brother (by 20+ lbs.) got tired and asked to sit in it. Guess what - we could push her just as easily as my DS and checked the wheels for "bulging" and they never did.

So for us it was worth the $ (for him because he tired so easily).

BTW - I too am a fan of Maclaren's.....but for a tall child they do cramp them at the shoulders.

Mac Techno XT is made for larger kids as it's goes to 65 lbs. I am a huge Mac fan, but the Volos and Triumps that people are mentioning, although going to 50lbs., just aren't suitable for kids that size. I have tall kids, and so they are way under the weight requirements for the 50lbs strollers, but they are scrunched in them just as Donnabelle mentioned - my 29lb 2.5 yr old doesn't use his Mac Triumph any longer as he's scrunched in it, and he's the leanest boy.

There are many strollers that go to higher weight limits now, but the higher end strollers like Mac, Peg, Bob, etc. perform way better, and actually are able to hold those max weights as they are very well made. The cheapy strollers such as Graco or Evenflo, are not as well made, and thus they don't peform as well.
