I’m looking to book a good place for steak In Disney. Any suggestions? I’ve been to the Yachtmen but that was many years ago. What about the place at the contemporary. Does that compare?

The steak at Steakhouse 71 does not compare IMO. Thinner type of steaks. They're okay, but they are the kind of thing you'd find at a chain steakhouse. For a better and thicker cut, I prefer the steaks at Le Cellier, Narcoossee's, The Boathouse, Citrico's and Takumi Tei.

Always had great food and service at Steakhouse 71. Went to Jiko in Dec and had one of the best steaks ever! Venison loin. It was amazing!

Perhaps not the intended request, but I had a very flavorful and well prepared hangar steak at Toledo (Coronado) last night … was super impressed - this was after having a filet at Le Cellier the night before. In so far as steak choices, these places do a pretty decent job. Nothing beats some of our local choices but if you must have steak at Disney - the higher-end signature restaurants do a pretty good job.

Somebody on the boards called Steakhouse 71 "Vegas-y" a few months back and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since. I don't eat at a lot of Signature restaurants on property (though Jiko is on our list for the next trip!), but we've been to Steakhouse 71 on every trip for the past 3 years or so. Very good cuts of meat for the price you pay and the sides are excellent as well-- we've never been disappointed here. I think it's definitely worth a try if you have a longer trip, though PPs are probably right that Narcoosee's, Citrico's, and Jiko might have more elevated offerings. We wouldn't do Le Cellier, have heard service and food quality can be hit or miss there.

We just came back from our Christmas trip and we dined at Narcoosee's on our final night. I very rarely eat steak or red meat but I decided to try the Filet and it was amazing. I've always liked the Filet at Yachtsman but this was even better. I requested it medium and it was cooked perfectly and so tender.

Steakhouse 71 is a good value but does not have the best steaks on property. Jiko and Flying Fish are both fantastic and have top tier steaks. For the absolute best, Morimoto Asia has A5 Wagyu, but it's not cheap.

I've got news for everyone. The steaks at Disney resorts are not prime, unless noted on the menu, and if you're raving about the great "filet" you had, you're likely raving about the sauce served with it, as that cut is all but flavorless.

You mean how food is prepared has an affect on how it tastes? and if its prepared "poorly" it might not taste good? Woah...

Capa at the Four Seasons has the best steak at WDW. They are rated Prime and are cooked perfectly with choice of sauce or not - a truly good steak doesn't need sauce but it enhances it with the right ones.

With regards to filet, you can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear.

Though that might be partially untrue in this case, as I've had pig ears and they're much more flavorful than filets.
