Best Steak at WDW

I have heard from multiple sources that their steak is best on property but the a la carte prices are more than I want to pay unless I am celebrating a special occasion with adults only. I guess we are odd ducks in that we prefer to eat more simply on vacation and to save nicer places for a night out when we're home.

I think Yatchsman is the only one where cook to order is really followed well.

THAT I agree with. They do steaks perfectly. I've had many good steaks at Jikos, etc. but for consistently done correctly, Yachtsmen is the best. They taste great, too, AND they have the roasted garlic to go with your rolls while you wait. Yum.

The Captain's Grille at the Yacht Club is excellent.
Do yourself a huge favor and get the English Toffee dessert. The DIS menu lists it as a cheesecake, but it isn't. It is something truly unique.

Also, our last trip to Le Cellier both the trademark filet and the new coffee rubbed steak were excellent!

They are the best in my opinion though and you are paying for the dining experience aswell. We had many a meal in Disney restaurants this vacation and most had ok service, 2 rather poor. Shula's was perfect. We treated it as a treat on our vacation, and living in central London (UK) a decent steak in a reliable steak house isn't cheap anyway, so the price we paid for 3 adults, 2 courses each and drinks, was on a par with home for us. We also took the occasion to make the effort with our attire and really relax and enjoy the experience, they encourage you to relax while eating and we never felt hurried.

Can I also add - the side dishes (baked potato, vegetables etc) are big enough sizes to share. Seriously, we had one baked potato, one hash brown side and one portion of greens - it was enough for the 3 of us and a little left over.

Shula's was the perfect medicine for me one year on our arrival night. We'd been in travel for ~12 hours (flight delays, plane change, etc), dehydrated and long past hungry. Our check-in at BWV was fine but we encountered confusion with my DH's conference registration at the Dolphin ... and by 9PM we were plain weary and discouraged having missed our traditional arrival dinner with friends. Grumpiness was setting in ... and not thinking clearly our only requirement became, "food now and close, please."

Shula's was right in front of us. The environment was soothing, the staff gentle and the food perfect. It was exactly what we needed at that moment ... and thankfully didn't require ADRs. We lucked out!

PS: Echoing comment above: share the sides. Gladly the staff suggested the idea of sharing and they were right.

What would you consider the best steak restaurant? Im looking for a steak thats barely seasoned with no fancy stuff. I want a steak, with some salt and pepper seasoning, maybe some garlic. Like Emeril does at his places.

Any ideas? I know about the Outbacks and Black Angus places. Thanks for the help. JW

Hands Down.......SHULA'S:yay:

I wouldn't take young kids here - but I've never been to a really good steak place (Morton's, Ruth's Chris, etc.) that I would take young kids to. (Other people are free to spend $45 on a steak and take it out in a styrofoam box when their kids get unruly - I won't take that risk).

When we went it was a grown ups night out for my husband and I - and we were at Disney when a Gartner conference was at the Swan/Dolphin - so it was filled with business people on expense accounts.

Narcoossee's (I always spell it wrong)

I would have to say that the best steak & service I have had while at WDW was at Shula's. Of course, that has been several years ago. DH & I were at WDW Dec. 7-14. We had steak at Narcoosees, Cali Grill, and Yachtsman. All were good.

CA Grill.
Narcoosees.
Haven't eaten at Shula's.
Maybe we will try that in January.

We had our wedding dinner at Narcoossees in April. They do a limited menu for large groups, and filet was one of the choices, and most of our group of 20 ordered filet. My uncle, who's been a meat broker for 25 years, said that was the best filet he'd ever had. We did LeCellier with the same group 2 days later and he said Narcoossees was much better.

We ate at Raglan Road in downtown Disney a while back. I remember that the steak that I had was very lightly, if at all, seasoned. The meat was well prepared, but I am used to restaurants really seasoning steaks to death. In fact, all of the food that we had there was well prpared but only lightly seasoned.

Don't forget the California Grill and the Brown Derby - THEY have the best steaks in my opinion.

Wow, keep it coming all. Its great to hear what neighbors have to say. I have been to some great steak places in the past. Bobby Flay, Emerils, all in Las Vegas. Im leaning more toward Yachtmans at this time. Its for my Birthday in FEB. We are staying at SSR. Will have a rental so its no biggie driving. Will also have a 20 month old in tow.

Again, keep them coming. I may even do both, eat out one night and BBQ some 2 inch rib eyes at SSR. JW

:worship: Yachtsman Steak House – If there has ever been a book on how to grill the "Perfect Steak", Disney rewrote it when they created the Yachtsman Steak House. Trust me; I am a man that loves a good steak.
Suggestion: Porter House, medium, pink center, seared to perfection, horseradish on the side, sautéed mushrooms, "smashed" potatoes. It simply melts in your mouth.

WARNING! Don't eat lunch. Go hungry!

Just wanted to add that on this week's DIS Unplugged PodCast Kevin had a re-review of YSH. You might want to listen.

Yup... I took a listen and TOTALLY agree with their review. I must say I have not had the Waygoo but will give it a try on my next visit. :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone this is aa good thread. I will try Yachtmans on the next trip. I have had good luck however at the Turf Club.

I had an awesome steak at Disney last year, and I am almost certain that it was at Boatwright's at Port Orleans Riverside. We went into the meal not expecting much, as the restaurant looks a bit like an afterthought, but every person in our family had a great meal. Thumbs up on the steak.

Very interesting to hear all the opinions on steaks!

As this is not DVC specific, however, I am moving it over to our Restaurant Board where a steak discussion would be more appropriate. Thanks everyone!

thanks Carol....
We have alot of Carnivores over here and they all love to discuss the best places for steak....
