Best Steak at Le Cellier

Hey, fellow Husker! We love our BEEF, don't we.

Yes! WE DO! what else is there to do in Nebraska besides eat good old Nebraska, corn-fed beef... Trying to find those special places on vacation that have steaks as good as the ones that we have at home. I don't know what others thought, but I thought the steak (I think I had a strip) at the Coral Reef was really good. Strip is not my favorite choice. I generally go for the Filet or the T-Bone.

I agree! Our server recommended the NY Strip, and it was the most delicious steak EVER! I also agree that the filet is just so-so, though I did like the BBQ maple-glazed filet they used to have.

I looooooove mushrooms and think the mushroom fillet here is absolutely divine. I'm not really a big steak person but this is my favorite TS entree by far!

As a general rule - if the people know what they're doing, the best steak at ANY steakhouse is a Ribeye...

There is no Ribeye on Le Cellier's menu. At least as of now.

I have had the filet several times and the prime rib once. Didn't care for the prime rib at Leceller or CRT. The filet is very good (med). Cheese soup/bread too.

The mushroom filet we had two years ago was awesome! We missed our ressie last year(boo!) and couldn't get walk in, but we were able to walk in to Coral Reef. Actually, we called the dining line when we couldn't get in Le C and they said no ressies, but, we decided to try to walk up anyway and see what happened. They said of course we can seat you now, it was great! (so always try walk up if you really want it, even if the dining line says they have nothing available!) We also got the NY strip and it was wonderful, one of our best meals this past Jan! We plan on doing both Le C and C Reef this coming Jan! Mmmmm, yummy, can't wait!

Btw, can you get the the KC coffee crusted strip for lunch at Le C? That sounds delicious, and my DD20 loves coffee and steak, so thinking she may enjoy this! Thanks

Eta: I checked the dis menu section and the strip steak is on the lunch and dinner menus, but it doesn't say anything about a coffee crusted strip steak, that's not in the description at all. Is this something that is still available? Mentioned it to DD20 and she thought it sounded fabulous!

Don't discount the grilled steak burger, I loved it and it was only $12.50
Wifey has to have the mushroom fillet though.

Don't forget that you MUST try the cheddar cheese soup. Great for dipping the pretzel sticks in.

We are going to LC for the first time in Nov. We are doing the dining plan, and after reading all of the yummy reviews, I think my husband and I will have to try one filet and one strip and share! Don't tell him, thought, he isn't big on the whole meal sharing thing...

If you like steak you should also try The Yachtsman. It's more of an upscale steakhouse and the food is really really good. Enjoy.

Hands down the filet is great!

We did order the mac & cheese for one of our kids and our server did warn us that it was not your normal mac & cheese but rather their cheddar cheese soup and noodles. And personally, it wasn't the best mac & cheese for our kids. The better option was to get them cheddar cheese soup and let them dip the breadsticks in it - that was preferred by them.

Filet is the safest best choice, I have had some good Prime rib and New York, but also some not so good.

I tried the coffee crusted Kansas City Strip and it was seriously the best steak I ever ate.

Does this steak have any coffee flavor? I do not like coffee one bit, not even in ice cream or candy. But I also do not like beer (I'm a wine gal) and I think that beer battered shrimp are fantastic.

No, this does not have a coffee flavor. I don't know how to describe it, but it was GOOD.

Thanks! We'll be eating both a lunch and a dinner at LC in December. I think I'll get the fillet for lunch and try this strip steak for dinner.
