We've just switched our ressies to a Standard View at the WL!!

Can anyone give me a recommendation on what area of the Resort is better than another for a Standard View room? TIA!! :goodvibes

I'm hoping you get lots of suggestions 'cause I wanna know too! We are headed to the WL for a 10 day stay in June, 2008. Since it was a big step up to our budget ($1,000.00), I could only afford a standard view room.

Come on Disboard members, help us WL newbies out!

if you are lucky they might upgrade you for free. We have stayed there 4 times, 2 times we paid for a courtyard view and 2 times we didnt and we lucked out and got courtyard view every time. We had what we thought was a standard view which looked towards the villas with a small glimpse of the villas pool but had paid for main courtyard so we got our room switched. I hear if you get a high enough room facing the MK you can see the firewoks at night so that would be pretty cool to see but Here are some pics of our courtyard view room 3139

Thanks for the info - looks like you had a great view!! :thumbsup2 I'd love to get an upgrade when we arrive, but since we'll be there during Free Dining, I'm not sure it'll happen. ;)

Does anyone else have a recommendation? TIA!! :)

I think that many of the standard rooms on the north wing overlook a service area-these are aboce Whispering Canyon Cafe. On the south side, they overlook the busses and roof - these are above the check-in desk. I think if it were me, I choose the south side.

I loved our standard room that we had this past December, but if you are looking for a view you probably wouldnt like it. We were right above the check in desk with a great view of the majestic lobby when coming out of your room. The outer balcony view was nothing to look at as we had roofpeaks right in front of us. We really dont sit on our balcony much at any hotel (except when we stayed at the CR with a MK view!!) so that didnt matter to us. We much prefered to sit in the rockers outside our room overlooking the lobby and watch everything going on. We were there at Christmastime too so there were lots of vocal and handbell choirs performing in the lobby. Our room was very convienent to everything.
Enjoy your stay there- it is a stunning resort!!

Thanks for the advice - not sure we want to look out at a service area - would probably rather look at roof peaks. LOL :)

Hmmmm.....rockers outside the room overlooking the lobby sound nice. We'd love to have a room not too far from Roaring Forks to enjoy our refillable mugs. So, convenience is definitely a factor! Sounds like a nice room location - thanks! :)

Anyone else? ;)
