Hi, I believe the Standard SUV from Alamo is the biggest as I have read they have a mid size and a full size but when I go on their website, they only have midsize and standard.

Can anyone advise what is the best Standard SUV to pick as we have one booked for next week.

Many thanks

It depends on what is available when you get there really.
they are essentially GM based, so you will have a possibility of a Chevy, they are OK.
Personally, IF one is available, I prefer the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Just have a look at them when you get there and decide from your personal choice is probably your best bet.

They just show you the line of SUVs and you choose which one you want and the keys are in the car.

we've booked a full size SUV so it'll be interesting to see what we get!

my car is a Toyota Landcruiser Amazon so I'm hoping it'll be as big as that with all our stuff ....

any ideas what the full size normally is?? Maybe a Suburban or Yukon EX?

They say its a GMC Envoy XL

A little off topic, went for a days test drive of a Jeep Commander this weekend. Think that will be my next SUV, was VERY impressed both on and off road!

Standard SUV at Alamo at MCO is a Jeep Laredo rather than Grand Cherokee.

It's smaller and not quite as high a spec. We were there 4 weeks ago and got one. The others were smaller in the boot and slightly larger in the leg room department.

Depends what aspect of large you're after :lmao:

If money is not too much of a concern, I'd be tempted to go for a full-size if space is what you're after. We had 3 adults and 1 18-month old, 4 large suitcases, a pushchair and hand luggage and it was a tight fit.

That is, however, only twice on the whole holiday you need to carry that much though.

I also found the Jeep under-powered, going to prove that the American "throw litres at it" method of engine design is flawed :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

PS to view Alamo Full size, there is a drop down list at the bottom of the car selection screen with more cars.

PPS Ah, this seems to have been changed to SUV cross-over. Don't get one of these if space is your concern as they're nice but smallish.

eek - it doesnt look that big on the website ... I'm sure it probably will be though in real life, I find the normal Envoy far too small but the XL hopefully will be a better fit.

The standard suv I got at sanford was a Pontiac Torrent, very nice vehicle, plenty room too, there was also a Kia Sorrento, Jeep Cherokee and something else I can't remember, all pretty good I thought, suffice to say im getting another Standard SUV this year:thumbsup2

I thought that too.

Looks like a small "Freelander/Honda CRV" size vehicle

We were gobsmacked when we were presented with the keys to a Jeep Laredo on our last trip. It was awful - very small and not at all what we were expecting. They upgraded us to a Grand Cherokee when we said we were disappointed. I drive an ML at home, so the Cherokee was much better in terms of size comparisons.

I didn't think to complain, the Laredo was ok but a bit cheap.

We have just booked an SUV through hertz. They have said it will be a cadillac escalade or similar and we paid 436 pounds all inclusibe for 21 days in August (we got a discount as dh is a gold card member)
We had a GMC ykon last year which was masive. We had to shout so the children could hear us in the back.

Tracey:thumbsup2

We normally book Hertz as well.
Is he a No1 Gold Card holder? if so make sure that the booking is such as then you can use the fast track collection at MCO

Funnily enough we just booked a Lincoln Navigator for 2 weeks in August (from Miami Int not MCO though) and got a very good deal. From what I can see with the Navigator and Escalade, this is the car you will get as opposed to the class, as it is in their prestige range. That having been said I have spoken with Hertz and they say they do not have Navigators at MIA, just Escalades - either way I shall be happy as they are both fantastic cars:thumbsup2
