DH, my cousin, and I are all debating what song is the best song ever. We've all come up with some pretty good offerings, so I thought I'd seek out some of your opinions.

DH suggests:
Paint It Black...The Rolling Stones

I said:
Dream On...Aerosmith
Kashmir...Led Zeppelin

Cousin says:
Won't Get Fooled Again...the Who

Honorable mentions to:
Baba O-Reilly...The Who
Werewolves of London...Warren Zevon
The Weight...The Band
Good Vibrations...the Beach Boys
Helter Skelter...The Beatles
Layla...Clapton (really Derek and The Dominoes, but it's all just Clapton to me!)
Free Bird...Skynyrd (though I say any song over 7 minutes gets axed for "insisting upon itself"!)
Sweet Home Alabama...Skynyrd

I vote for Tiptoe through the Tulips by Tiny Tim...JK!

I can't wait to see what everyone says...I am not a good judge of music. I like Country and Christian, which most people would say is not the best of anything...

#1 Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen

You got half the answer-Freebird-but missed Stairway to Heaven. :woohoo::banana:

Stairway failed my 7 minute rule. Too long and you get cut!

I don't recall The Who ever singing Paint it Black. However, The Rolling Stones did. :rolleyes1

That's kinda funny. I have been simultaneously typing here and texting my cousin, so it would seem the lines of communication have gotten crossed! We were arguing about the merits of the Stones, the Who, and Zeppelin. I fixed it (along with my Layla submission. Dh is standing over my shoulder hopping mad that I called it a Clapton song).

Wanted to add "Do You Feel Like I Do" by Frampton but it fails the 7 minute test...

I'm not a huge Springsteen fan, but seeing as it's 4th of July weekend, how about "Born in the USA"?

Star Spangled Banner ( given the holiday)

personally am an Aerosmith fan, so Dream On trumps the Who for me

and am also partial to Hotel California -Eagles.

The ONLY best song ever is.....

Hotel California by The Eagles. :worship:

Maybe not the "best" but my favorite.
I'm Just Waiting on a Friend - Rolling Stones

Best rock song ever is really hard. Many of the excellent ones have already been mentioned.

But, my personal fave is Born to Run....Springsteen.

And, I also love a lot of the stuff from Joshua Tree, U2.

Hard to choose one, really.

Or how about Sandy:thumbsup2 (4th of July, Asbury Park)

Much better than Born in the USA...which doesn't have a heck of a lot to do with patriotism. It's more the opposite. How this country sold vets of Vietnam short. Always been a misunderstood song because of the name, I think.

Meatloaf's "Paradise by the Dashboard Light"
but really, Toby Keith's "Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue"!!!!
