Best Solo Table Service?

Well, I took the plunge! I went to EPCOT a couple weeks ago and had a TS meal at Nine Dragons. I enjoyed it very much-didn't get the "only one?" comment unless they said it in Chinese and I didn't know. ;)

So...now on Sunday I'm making the BIG jump to Crystal Palace. I'm celebrating a very important personal event and I wanted to do that with my favorite Disney character, Winnie the Pooh.

awww and we were there this past Sunday... :p

Hi PeterPan!

I vote the Beirgarten BECAUSE you sit with a bunch of other people. It's a buffet where you get up from the table quite a bit, and when the band is playing it is LOUD!! When I was there last it wasn't even possible to try and make conversation with others at the table because the music was so bad. Of course, if you hate German food, that's another story...

I also suggest Kozzena on the Boardwalk, or maybe ESPN club also on the Boardwalk. Also, Liberty Tree Tavern in MK is some great food and groups/solos of all different types eat there.

I enjoy the Biergarten as a solo, because unless you have a party of 8, you'll be at a table with other people who are stuck eating with strangers too! :) I am NOT an outgoing social person, yet every time I eat there solo, I have a nice conversation with people I might never have spoken to otherwise.

ok...so I finally did it and booked my solo trip! did it through expedia so I can't be on the dining plan :sad2: but i made an adr at 1900 park fare and i'm so excited! anyone have any out of this world solo dining experiences i should try? i really want to do a signature....I'm thinking artist point? let me know your experiences!

For signature dining, I did Narcoose's,Jiko (where I sat at the counter), and California Grill, all of which I enjoyed. Jiko's was my favorite, though, because the nice CM who made the salads made a sample size one for me of a type I'd never tried (the ones in the picture are some full-size ones)-

For non-signature, I loved both Chefs de France and Rose and Crown (on the porch) for lunch, as there's lots of "people-watching" available. Sci-Fi was fun, too-since everyone's watching the movie screen, no one notices you're solo and it's just like eating in front of the TV at home.
I'm one who recommends avoiding the communal dining experiences, like Teppan Edo and Biergarten. You might get lucky and get friendly neighbors to talk with. But then again, you might have an experience like the one I had and get seated next to someone who definitely wants to avoid you. I got seated next to a teenager who made it plain that sitting next to a strange adult was her worst nightmare and my attempts to be friendly and ask questions about her trip were met with momosyllabic grunts. Fortunately, I'm a high school teacher, familiar with those grunts, and didn't take it personally. But I don't know who was more uncomfortable!

I am going on a sort of solo trip this year (my sister and I will meet up occasionally she is going to Saragota springs and I am going to the beach club. The restaurants I have adrs for so far are
Kona Cafe
The Wave
Camp Maya Grill
Captains Grill
Kouzzina
Artists Point
The Plaza
Jiko
Yak and Yeti
Sci Fi cafe
Queen Victoria Room V&A
Crystal Palace
Coral Reef
Rose and Crown
Flying fish
Yachtman Steakhouse
(guess who is on the deluxe dining plan, and I know V&A isn't on it but its worth it.

Tigger gave me the boohoo too at CP! :scared1: It was uncomfortable. I showed him my wedding ring, as if too say NO REALLY SOMEBODY REALLY DOES LIKE ME. I also felt funny going to Cinderella's Table solo for lunch. THEY STRUTTED ME RIGHT UP TO THAT FRONT ENGAGEMENT TABLE under the windows. Oh good grief. hahahah. :lmao: Try to act nonchalant sitting there by yourself. The fairy godmother does her shtick from your table. :rotfl:

I have a solo trip planned for April. Would any of you mind posting your solo experience at V&A? I think that is the only restaurant I am unsure about doing alone. I have been many times by myself and have never been made to feel uncomfortable. On my last trip to 1900 Park Fare, a family seated nearby wanted me to sit with them because they thought I might want some company. I didn't of course, but they were so sweet and I ended up sharing all of my DIS knowledge :)

I do the same thing I do at home every night; I sit at the bar.

In some of the more popular places, there is a huge turnover for people waiting for tables and you meet so many interesting people.

It is also great to get to know the bartenders too....

My favorite is the Territory Lounge at WL, and the lounge at my home resort, POR. :cutie:

I have been to the Victoria and Albert restaurant 3 times. On two occasions having the chiefs menu in the main dining room. I have never been made to feel anything but welcome there and I am looking forward to a meal in the Queen Victoria Room this August. You will really enjoy your self.
