Best socks for kids?

Talking about blisters in another thread brought up the issue of socks. What are the best socks you've found to prevent blisters for a 4 year old?

My kids rarely wear sneakers at the parks, they do well in their keens. Although my 4 year old is rarely walking in the parks, she's usually in a stroller.

When they do wear sneakers, we just use cat and jack socks. I make sure that the sock goes up high enough that the shoe isn't rubbing against the top of the ankle and that their sneakers still fit before we go anywhere.

Socks high in natural fabrics like cotton with lower % of synthetics like Spandex or nylon. “Name brand” socks didn’t really exist when my kids were growing up; socks were socks and you could buy them from any price point store and they’d be the same, pretty much.
I guess nowadays I’d check places like LL Bean or REI for specs than wander over to a Kohl’s or TJ Maxx for a hopefully better price comparison.

Bombas. Skip the Baby and the Toddler sizes and go straight to Junior.

They're stupidly expensive but extremely high quality and their customer service is exceptional. Buy some for yourself while you're there.
Seconding this. They are the best (both for me and my young DD) - the only socks I’ll buy. They’re also seamless so if your kiddo is bothered at all by them, this is an added bonus.

It’s the shoes not the socks. If you wear properly fitting shoes you’ll be fine. When my kids were 4 I got their shoes from Stride Rite and their socks from Carters. Also, if you bring a stroller a 4 year old shouldn’t be walking an excessive amount anyway.

Love my merino wool Bombas. Smart Wool (LLBEAN) is a good alternative. Almost all new socks have those nasty synthetics in them and all cotton is not good for sweaty feet. Get a package of Dr Scholl's (name brand only!) mole skin for blisters. You will need a cheap scissor to cut them or precut if flying with carry on. Money spent now will save days of whining!!!!!!!!!

Aren’t the LL Bean smart wool socks a blend of natural textiles and synthetics with the wool having an overall higher percentage? Great socks.

Didn’t realize anyone still made all cotton socks? Thought they disappeared around the 1930s, oh but maybe for various religious applications.

You could be right. Our DS wore them for five summers working at a horse ranch in WY and they held up well. They were pretty much what all the campers wore (I don't think Bombas was established). Any hiking store would likely have good choices.
