What are the best snack values?
We are on the DDP, so we want to use our snacks wisely... (Not for soda's, water, etc.)

Are there any snacks that can "steal" a meal? Fried Rice, turkey legs etc...

The best snack values are the treats that you know you will enjoy. Price doesn't matter. Just because something is .30cents more doesn't make it a better value if you don't like it.

And how can you put a value on a cold bottle of water when it is 110 outside and you don't want to dig for dollar bills to purchase it.

It's a matter of getting what you want without thinking twice, and nothing to do with cost!

We never use (waste) our SC's on drinks. No one in my family drinks soda (yeah!) so when we want water we ask for a free fountain one.

In France's Boulangerie Patisserie you can get a hot ham and cheese croissant for a snack credit. They are huge and they are superdelish! I agree with PP, though... use your credits for what you are in the mood for. If you purposely try to eat the more expensive items you may save a couple more bucks, but the effort to try to do that sort of defeats the purpose of the ease of the plan.

Sorry, but you cannot get a turkey leg for a snack credit. You can get one using a QS credit. As the PP said, looking through the items listed on the snack thread is a really good place to start. In general, I would think that any item that is $3.50 or more and can be "bought" with a snack credit is a good deal.

Well, depends on how you want to make a meal. Often my husband and I will use our snack credits at Main Street Bakery. We'll get a cinnamon roll and a cup of fruit. That's two snack credits right there. Then we'll pay for our drinks separately. But like I said, it depends on how you like to make a meal. If it were up to my husband it would be chocolate cake for breakfast. Not sure if it is still a snack credit, but last year (and the time before) we went to the Boulangerie Patisserie for the cheese plate. Nice little plate of three cheeses, some fruit and a chunk of bread. That's more than enough for a lunch for me.

Haven't had the cheese plate in France, but have had the ham & cheese croissant & it was VERY yummy!

I agree, it does depend on what type of meal you want. You can get fries as a snack in several places, yogurt, muffins/danishes/bagels, various fruits, & soup (Norway & a couple other places), but not turkey legs.

I remember reading on another thread that you could get lobster rolls somewhere in Epcot with the snack credit, and it's like 6 bucks or so if you pay OOP

In Magic Kingdom you can get the strawberry shortcake or brownie sundae at storybook treats, they are almost 5.00 each and an awesome value for a snack credit.....yummy too!!!

I got a GIANT chocolate cupcake in AK - at a cart in Rafiki's Planet. It had frosting with a hard chocolate animal piece on top. My DH and I split and then no longer were hungry for lunch. It was either 4.25 or 4.50. It was in the ice cream cart so it was nice and cold (we were there in August). One of the best snacks of the trip. Enjoy your trip!

I read a dining report recently and someone went to Epcot...Joy of Tea (China) and got a Curried Chicken Pocket. The picture looked really yummy as a savory snack. I have already put that item on my "list" for things I may try using our DP

Neither the Brownie Sundae or Strawberry Shortcake are a CS anymore. Also I don't see the Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich as a SC anymore either.

On the thread mentioned above I have posted some revisions towards the end of the thread. The originator of that thread has a real job now and can't spend as much time as she used to on the boards. Apparently I can!

If you check out easywdw.com you will see many of the new updated menus with the SC logo clearly shown. He has most of them from MK, AK, and DHS. Epcot ones are not as available.

(I haven't been able to find any SC at Joy of Tea stand. That's one of the places I plan on checking out to see if they allow anything with a SC. )

Dole Whip Float at Aloha Isle in MK - I like the pineapple/vanilla swirl with pineapple juice. This is normally $4.19 + tax.

My kids always like to get an ice cream treat from one of the many carts. Or even a box of popcorn. These items range from $3 to $4.

I always see how much money I would have spent on items versus how much the dining plan costs me to make sure I'm getting the most value from the plan. Usually the snacks are the 'extra' for us on the dining plan but I do prefer to spend the snack credits on items that are $3 or more. We have absolutely no problem spending snack credits so I'm always amazed when folks say they haven't spent them. We have ice cream at least once everyday and that is usually how we spend our credits.

I have to agree with the person who posted for you to check that list out, it has a bunch of great options you wouldn't think of! My personal favorite is the cinnamon roll from Main Street Bakery.

Depending on if you are a big eater or not, we found that most food we used a snack credit on served well as a light "meal" to tide us over for a few hours. In MK we got an ice-cream cookie sandwich that was HUGE, in AK we got two egg rolls from Yak & Yeti, in EPCOT we got the croissant in France and in DHS we got breakfast pasties/cupcakes at Starring Rolls. Some great dessert items on the snack credit were a Dole Whip, a sundae at Seashore Sweets and POP (they were probably 3-scoop with whipped cream, hot fudge and a cherry), the strawberry shortcake at Sunshine Seasons...too many to name and all delish!

During F&W @ Epcot you can use a snack credit for lobster rolls. F&W , IMO, offers the most wonderful snack credit options! You can get sweet and savory, and most all are available using a snack credit. (Alcohol is not)
