We will probably grab breakfast at Dunkin Doughnuts at the airport around 6 AM. We won't be eating again till almost 2 PM at CP in MK. I know there will be a drink and chips/cookies from Jetblue, but I don't see that holding us over the 8 hrs till lunch. We land at 10 AM, but I don't want to eat a full meal then and ruin our lunch. We will get snack credits with our DXDP, so we could potentially grab something small at the food court after checking in. I was thinking it may just be easier to throw something in my carryon for everyone. We usually do fruit snacks, but I hoping to come up with something slightly more substantial that could last if we don't eat it that first day. A lunchable would have been great, but it won't last for any length of time and will be bulky. Any healthy-ish snacks I'm not thinking of? Or should we grab a muffin or something at the food court?

Beef Jerkey or a dried fruit and nut mixture. Target makes great ones in their store brand. We usually have both in the bag when we travel. Gets some protein in there that you won't get with donuts or muffins.

I would do something more significant for breakfast. You gotta get some good protien in there or you will have everyone crashing around you wayyy before lunch. Maybe stop at Mcdonalds on the way to the airport and grab breakfast sandwiches. and then pack some things like fruit snacks, crackers, and the like for later to hold you until lunch.

I made a big bag of snack mix. I used cheerios, raisins, pretzels, M&M's and little bitty bagel chips. We also had the snackks while we were at the parks. Cheese and grapes are another good snacks. You could freeze the grapes and they could double as ice.

As a carry-on, I bring a small soft sided cooler that can go into the freezer to insulate for awhile. In there, I bring string cheese, bagels, fruit, treats (chocolate or cookies). You could probably bring lunchables in there.

The night before our flight I make breakfast burritos or bagel, egg, cheese sandwiches (can also be used for lunch). We live too far away from the airport for a breakfast stop.
I also pack crackers, pretzels, etc.

Since this is the budget board... I have everyone take an empty water bottle in their backpack. When we get through security, they fill it up with water and use a "drop-in" packet. This way I do not have to buy 5 drinks before the flight and I know they are hydrated.;)

I like the fruit and nut mix with good and healthy dried fruit. Kirkland (Costco Brand) makes great mixtures of these for cheap!

I always take granola bars and if I have room throw in a box of Wheat Thins. I think in your situation, I would skip the donuts and buy a box of those Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches to throw in the microwave before you leave. I would also get some protein bars for the carry-on. They are better for keeping the hungries away than your run of the mill granola bars. Along with some type of crackers, I think you should be good.

We just flew last week through lunch. I packed a small soft cooler and we picked up sub sandwiches on the way to the airport. I had some homemade brownies and apples. I put everything in individual ziplocs, even the sandwiches, I took baggies with me and popped them in there and it was no problem at all through security. We bought bottles of water after security and had a picnic on the plane, eating always passes the time too. ;)

I too like the trail mix sold by Target. You can get the big one and place the amount you need in a zip lock bag or container. Don't forget the water.

I bring fruit (bananas, pre-cut and peeled oranges, pre-washed apples in ziplocks, pre-washed grapes in ziplocks), nuts, raw bars (like larabar), and PB and J sandwiches.

Something that won't get squished! Well that was my first thought!

I agree with something along the lines of a dried fruit and nut trail mix. Some type of granola or power bars.
