Best Smelling CHEAP candles??

I second the candles at AC Moore- they have the large sized jars for less than $4.00, and the scent lasts a long time. I use an electric candle burner (also purchased at AC Moore for around 5 dollars) because I have a toddler in the house, and don't feel comfortable with an open flame. It seems to work really well, and I get to extend the life of the candles by a huge amount!

What is an electric candle burner and how does it extend the life of the candle? I have two toddlers running around, so safety is key with me too!

I usually buy whichever is on sale, but price being equal, I prefer WBCC. B&BW has some great sales on their candles too.

I love the White Barn Candles too. Aren't they sold at B&BW?

Yes, B&BW is where I buy them. I meant to say that not only do I prefer WBCC from B&BW, but they also have some great sales on them. Sorry, if I wasn't clear in my PP.

Do you by chance live in Ohio?? There is the A.I. Root company. Their candles are along the line of YC. While they are as expensive as YC they have a huge thrift shop that has tons of candles at reduced prices. They are usually what they consider defective - although I have never found anything wrong with most of them. They smell awesome - my favorite is lime senerade - in fact I just had my sister pick one up for me.

A friend of mine got me some Walgreens candles last year, and said I know it seems cheap, but trust me they work better than most big name brands.

They did work great & the house always smelled like I was baking something delicious

No, I think that you were perfectly clear. It was me. I think that it was my eyes at 7 am! :teeth:

Try maximumscented dot com (Country Heart Candles). I just got an order in from them--they were super fast. Testimonials say they rival Yankee candles. I love Yankee but the price was killing me without some discounts. So I decided to give this company a try. They are soy blended candles, so they burn clean. I haven't even burned them yet, they are still sitting in the box, yet I can smell them when I walk in the house! They are triple-scented candles so may be too much for some people. The cost for the 16 oz. candles was $8 ea, but they smell great and have a lot of scents.

An electric candle warmer is a mini "hotplate" for jar candles. They look exactly like those electric mug warmers for a cup of coffee. You place your jar candle on these and turn it on, do not light the candle. The wax in the jar is warmed/melted and scents your home without a flame.

Just be careful with these and those electric tart/ melt warmers. My sons and I were at my sisters the other day and they touched her electric warmer and the wax. They are used to my PL candles and holders and have never gotten burned before. The 4 year old cried for a couple of minutes and the 6 year old just yelled a bit.

One other thing, being a sort of candle guru and all, be sure to read that label on the bottom of your jars no matter what company you use. I never did until I attended my first Partylite show and was told about this, but most companies direct you to discard the candle once it's burned half-way down because the jars are expected to get too hot and can explode. I threw away several Yankee and Bath and Body candles that night. Not only were they burned down that far, but they also had all of that nasty black soot I always assumed was a normal thing for candles... I'd sure hate to hear of any of my fellow disers getting hurt or anything

Besides being a TW addict, I am a Partylite addict. It is only partylite for me. They are all natural. You could eat them if you wanted. I haven't but could. They leave no black soot around your holder, and they burn completely! I have the most wonderful Partylie consultant, she is stuck with me forever! You can ask a PC which are the stronger smells. And ask what smells do what. For example the partylite honeydew 3 wick, gets rid of musty or cigarette odors. The zen candle, gets rid of the "sick" smell. Not to be gross or grafic, but the smell that comes from not being able to keep anything down. I love getting the 3 wick, it lasts forever. And at around $40, the most cost effective. And scents the room. I have a open living, dining, hall area. I buy candles for scent, not color or decoration. So I am burning them, not looking at them.

Some thing's you can do to extend your partylite candles (might or might not work with others, I don't know, I don't have anything else) is.....

1. Keep the candles in the fridge, they burn about twice as long or
2. Keep them in the freezer, they last about 3 times as long, but the wax may crack, so if you don't care if it cracks do this.
3. The partlite votives, can be used as melts. The wick pulls right out. So you can get any of the scents and use in a warmer.
4. The jar candles, keep them on the stove. The heat from the stove/oven will melt the wax, and release scent without burning the candle. Depending on what kind of stove you have, you may need to put the jar on something. So it doesn't do any damage, or break. And you must use the stove to have the wax melt, to release the scent. :teeth:

Please use this as advice only, and I am not liable for any damage etc, that may occur with the misuse of any or all candles in this way.

Wow! You should be selling ya know... I couldn't have said it better myself. My favorite all time scent is Strawberry Rhubarb but for the holiday season I love Cinnamon & Bayberry, Roasted Chestnuts, Holiday Spice, and Brandied Apricots!! These are the best new holiday scents we've had in quite a while!! If anyone doesn't have a rep nearby and would like to view the catty, PM me. I can send you an email link to view the catty.
