Heading to NY city on Saturday! Tell me where to find the best NY city slice of pizza????
We'll be spending the first portion of our day on Canal St then we have to head towards Time Square. So my best guess would be somewhere either Canal St. or Times Square area. Don't want to have to get on/off subway too much!
THanks!!

OOOhhh you're gonna open a can o' worms wiht this one! Hehehe...NY'ers are passionate about their pizza. Just remember, even "bad" NY pizza is better than pizza everywhere else!

Oh I know!! LOL Just looking for a few suggestions!!

My wife insists that we go to John's Pizza every time we go the the City. It's about half a block west of Broadway on W 44th.

We loved John's too. It kinda ruined regular pizza for me though :rotfl:

There's a favorite little spot I always go to for an authentic slice of pie in the city. Sbarro.:thumbsup2

J/K. It's a Michael Scott quote.

Oh yeah!!!!!!!!!!!! I've gone to NYC from Jersey just to get John's pizza!

i dont know but my dd went with her culinary class for a foods tour of ny and she raved about bleaker street pizza .

I would have seconded Johns but last time I had it I was soooo disappointed.:confused3 My DD lives in Manahatten and talks about some place called 'Patsy's'?? Not sure where it is but I would think lower Manhatten? Last Saturday we had Pizza at Lombardi's which is supposed to be one of the best and I wasn't keen on that either! Tasted undercooked and soggy....

I've had Patsy's and it is could. You could also go to Original Ray's...Famous Ray's...or Original Famous Rays (they have them all).

If you want a pizza memory, try Koronet Pizza on 112th and Broadway. It's good pizza and the slices and cheap and HUGE (really---beyond anything you would imagine--like a quarter of a huge pizza).

Here are some reviews of Koronet:

"I can recall the days when the jumbo slice was $2. Now $3.25, it is still a steal. It has to be the size of 3 "ordinary" slices at any of the mediocre spots throughout the city. This pizza is good too. The sauce is tangy and the crust perfectly done. 1 slice and you are stuffed. $1 for toppings on a slice seems like a robbery, until you get a half pound of mushrooms or half n onion on your slice. Don't order more than 2 toppings or you cannot pick the thing up! We will travel to eat here."

"Koronet is a pizza joint on 112th and broadway in Morningside Heights near Colubmbia. I know good pizza. I live in Manhattan and let me tell you this is the best pizza you can get in manhattan. The best part is it is not a tourist trap."

What about that place next to the David Letterman theatre? Angelo's?

Bella Vita pizza is off Times Square and honestly has some of the best pizza I've ever eaten. http://www.bellavitanyc.com/

Lombardi's was C-R-A-P! Yuck. Tasted like cardboard and one of those food show raved about it.

What is the name of the place in an old church? It was very good - but their shirts said "NO SLICES"!

Seriously...anywhere. There are pizza places all over and they are all delicious. It's the NYC water. It really doesn't matter where you go. Any pizza place in NYC has better pizza than anywhere else in the country.

Don't waste your time, not only trying to find the best place, but acually trying to GET to that place. Do your sightseeing or whatever else you're doing and just stop at anywhere you see pizza. :thumbsup2

(Pizza is my favorite food and I'm so glad I live i the NYC area for that reason ALONE!)

There's a John's pizzeria around Times Sq that once was an old church? Perhaps that one..but as I mentioned earlier, last time I was there it was very mediocre compared to other visits...:confused3

Is that the same as Lombardi's? My DD and I ate there last weekend and it was not good...soggy and wet. I guess undercooked..
