Best sit down meal in MK

Hi I am looking for a table service sit down meal (lunch) in the MK - we are travelling with our DS who will be two (but scared of characters so that's out!)

We are regulars at Disneyland Paris and if anyone knows DLP I'm looking for a Walts or Blue lagoon type equivalent - otherwise just everyones opinions on the best sit down meal - there doesn't seem to be a huge anount of choice!

As you have discovered, TS options in the MK are very limited. The only restaurants with a la carte options for all meaks are Tony's and the Plaza, with the latter being very casual sandwiches and such. LTT is a la carte at lunch, but all-you-can-eat/family style at dinner.

The options at the MK-area resorts are much better. The Wave or California Grill at the CR, Kona Cafe at the Poly, Narcoossee's, Citrico's and V&A at the GF.

For a non-character meal at MK we really like LTT. It was fairly quiet...which by day 5 my kids really appreciated the break from the constant stimulation. The food was good, our only complaint was that they didn't have a non-artificial sweetened juice available for the kids to drink....but with a 2yo I don't think that would be an issue for you.

Thank you for your reply Yes they are quite limited! I was hoping to do lunch in order to sit down and put our feet up to break up the day at the MK (we are only in orlando for a few days and can only afford one day in MK)

I've looked at a few of your suggestions in the resorts and they certainly appeal - is it realistic to leave the park, eat and go back to it without loosing too much time out of the day? I'd do it in a heartbeat at DLP as everything is walking distance but WDW seems *SO* much bigger and I'm worried about waiting times for the monorail etc! All this for a nice meal lol!!

I personally LOVE Liberty Tree and would prefer to stay in the park and just dine there. They have a fantastic menu for lunch. A huge variety. And its nice and quiet in there too. Although I gotta admit, Kona is a great choice as well and its not far.

Just so you know, Narcoossee's, Citrico's and V&A are all signature restaurants. 2 TS credits (although V&A is not part of the dining plan). Keep in mind that signature restaurants take more time....can your 2 yr old can sit at the table quietly for about 2hrs until the meal is finished? LOL!

To the OP: I believe your original post said you were looking for a TS meal for lunch. You need to be aware that CG, Narcoossee's, Citrico's and V&A are only open for dinner.

I will add my vote for a lunch at LTT if you want to stay in the park. To our family it seems the quietest and most relaxing TS there. And the food is good too!

Obviously going to a monorail resort will take more time out of your touring day. How much time depends a great deal on the time of year and how busy the park (and therefore transportation) is. Travelling could easily add at least an hour or more to your lunch time. But it could also be a nice break from all the hustle and bustle of the park.

I would also suggest Liberty Tree Tavern for lunch inside the MK. It's great - much better than dinner in my opinion.

For the resorts to get away from the park at lunch - Kona Cafe and Grand Floridian Cafe are both nice and a change of pace. We rode the boat instead of taking the monorail this last time and that felt like part of the adventure itself. Never been to The Wave at the CR -- but it seems to get good reviews, too.

I like LTT for lunch much better than dinner! It's quiet, cool and the food is good! Lunch menu has a nice assortment of choices, dinner however is a buffet and I'm not a fan of DIsney buffets!

All of these votes for LTT over Tony's is making me have second thoughts. We have an Oct. ADR lined up for Tony's (dinner), but now I'm thinking about LTT. For all of you who have come out in favor of LTT as the best in MK, do you have a particular critique of Tony's? Why are you saying LTT over Tony's?

We prefer the lunch menu at LTT over Tony's. We liked the menu more and found the food to be much better at LTT. The service there has been wonderful each time we've eaten there.

Our experience at Tony's was horrible. The lack of organization at the check-in desk caused several parties, including ours, to get overlooked. Then, the food was cold and didn't taste good, and our server's attitude was horrible. I would normally chalk it up to the server having a bad day, but we have friends who have had the same thing happen to them on different occasions.

Well, Let's preface this with, "There's very little choice, other than the buffets!" which I do not enjoy! LTT does edge out Tony's for me! But If I truly wanted a nice meal in the MK area but out of the park, I would pick the Wave!

Wow everyone thank you so much for all your replies Having read the LTT menu and weighed up the pros and cons of leaving the park its going to be LTT for us Looks great - and with the reviews you've given it was a no brainer - DS can have a break, with food he will like and eat but not dragged out and back into the park - also the prices seem pretty good (no dining plan for us ) . I agree with HsvTeacher. Our service wasnt good either. Tony's is by far the worst meal i've had on disney property. I asked my son what was the worst meal for him, he automatically replied "Tony's!". The food was simply gross. Just nasty. They call that italian? bahahahahahaha . If you must go to Tony's, stay away from anything with tomato sauce in it. Funny im suggesting that considering its an italian restaurant right? I'd much rather eat at a quick service for dinner than go to Tony's. I would highly recommend Liberty Tree. They have a huge variety on the menu for lunch. Prices are reasonable. Plus its in MK! And I personally LOVE their dinner. Its wonderful. You cant go wrong with either one!

LTT is my #1 favorite but I have only ever had it @ dinner. I don't know if your American, being that DLParis is where you usually go. But it has a very early American feel to it. It's great if you want to try that theme. Next to that I'd jump on the monorail to visit one of the beautiful hotels & have a nice lunch. IMO I'm not a fan of any other TS meals in MK. But many people love the Crystal Palace.

I just wanted to clarify that LTT dinner is not a buffet. It is "family style eating." A set dinner menu, but they bring the food to you~you don't have to get up and stand in line like at a regular buffet.

We have never done LTT for lunch, but my guess is is would be a great choice, as the atmosphere is pretty relaxing and the menu and service are great.

Tony's is also a good choice. We have only done dinner there, but we enjoyed it. The atmosphere is very pretty as well!

Personally, I would choose one of the above two. I would not waste time traveling to one of the resorts for lunch because even though they are close by, if you are concerned about missing park time, it does take time to gather up for family, trek to the monorail, travel there and then travel back.

You know it's been so long since I did dinner there I'd forgotten that it was family style! In the last several years we've stuck to doing lunch there because of the menue choices.

It is very easy to leave MK to catch lunch at one of the resorts. I love Kona and always try to book a lunch there on one of our MK days. It is nice to take a short break from the park and go to the Poly

Personally I don't care for LTT (just not my kind of food ), The Plaza we did out of the blue just because we wanted something light and it was a nice and quiet spot - it was a nice place to relax for an hour.
