We are on a tight budget this trip and we will be eating a lot of counter service meals...but would love at least one really good sit down meal....wondering what the best ones are..we're big WDW fans and our fave sit down meal there is O'hana...anything like that in Disneyland???

I've never been to WDW but Cafe Orleans is a nice table-service restaurant inside New Orleans Square and it is also pretty affordable. Their gumbo and pommes frites are super yummy and I love their salmon salad as well. A lot of people really love their Monte Cristo (a ham and cheese sandwich that is deep fried and then dusted with powdered sugar and comes with a jelly for dipping as well...basically a heart-attack on a plate) but neither DBF nor I enjoyed it enough to ever order it again...

Does sit down mean waiter service? I would recommend Blue Bayou - there's nothing like that at WDW! But go for lunch - it's cheaper.

If you don't need waiter service, then the Plaza Inn has great food - it's counter service, but more efficient, and nicer surroundings.

Another vote for Blue Bayou for lunch. It is pricey but magical.

I would say Cafe Orleans for the great food and everything is shareable....between 5 of us it was like $60 we split everything we ordered, we got the Monte Cristo to share as well as gumbo, pomme frites and beignets, was an excellent meal and we left stuffed!!!

We love the Blue Bayou, waterside is a great experience. We also like Steakhouse 55 and Napa Rose for a relaxing meal.

Unfortunately, there is nothing comparable to O'hana at DLR, but there are some table service restaurants that are popular with many on the Disneyland board. Some have been mentioned (BB, Cafe Orleans) and I will throw in Celebration Roundup BBQ (all-you-can-eat, served family style).

If you want to venture over to the hotels, we love Steakhouse 55 and Napa Rose (but those are quite pricey) and Storytellers for breakfast (haven't tried it for lunch or dinner, though).

Lastly, you probably already know this, but at DLR, you can walk to both parks, DTD, and the hotels in 15 or less, so eating outside Disneyland Park is pretty easy and does not require hopping on a bus or monorail. Have a great trip! :goodvibes

Another vote for Blue Bayou. I go there every time I make it to the park, such a great experience and atmosphere.

I’d go with Blue Bayou for the Experience and atmosphere and for the waiter service! It’s quiet and relaxing… I read a bad report on Café Orleans, so my vote is for Blue Bayou! :yay:

If you are only going to do one TS meal, I vote Blue Bayou as well. The atmosphere is wonderful, the food is excellent and you can watch the boats of POTC go by. It's one of those "gotta do it at least once" places; a definite must do at DLR. The food at DLR is generally not as good as WDW, but this is one of the exceptions. :thumbsup2

Are you asking for just Disneyland *Magic Kingdom* restaraunt suggestions or all of DLR *Disneyland Resort* there are a couple nice choices in the hotels ~ Napa Rose, Steak House 55.....

We love Blue Bayou and we really enjoyed our 1st meal at Cafe Orleans earlier this month.

I would also choose BB for the atmosphere and watching the POTC boats go down the river, but for dining I would choose CO over BB. The food is great at CO.

Blue Bayou is an experience, make sure you're comfortable with the prices. Otherwise, we love Cafe Orleans sitting outside along the railing if it is available. :) Celebration Roundup is great too if you like barbecue.

I would do Cafe Orleans. The prices aren't as high as BB, and they serve a couple things that are exactly the same (like the monte cristo).

Like most of the rest, I have to say BB if you're only doing one. Try to get an 11:30 reservation and show up very early (30-40 minutes) and ask for a waterside table. At any other time, it's pretty much luck of the draw or a long wait. Keep in mind that the lunch and dinner menus are slightly different (tho no cheaper at lunch). The exclusive lunch entree is the Monte Cristo (which you can get $6 cheaper at Cafe Orleans). Dinner's exclusive is filet mignon with or without lobster.

So, if you want filet, you'll have to wait for dinner.

And reservations are a must. As far in advance as possible.

I do have one caveat about Blue Bayou - if you're going with little kids who might be afraid of the dark. It's VERY dark in there (hard even to read the menus) and our boys didn't like it the first few times we went. (Now they love it!)

BB, hands down. You wont get the experience and atmosphere at any of other restaurant there!

Upscale - Napa Rose for sure or Steakhouse 55
Inside the park sit down - Blue Bayou
Inside the park counter service - Plaza Inn

Blue Bayou is my first choice. :) It's delish!!!! And the atmosphere can't be beat. :) If you don't want BB then I'd go with Cafe Orleans or Carnation Cafe, both are very good and fun places to eat.

I've eaten at Storyteller's for lunch and dinner and it's very very good, I love the corn chowder!! And they have a buffet in peak seasons.

BTW if you do BB for lunch get the 11:30 seating and ask for waterside, heck ask for waterside no matter when you eat there, it's so much neater waterside. :) Also, don't get there 30-40 minutes early for the 11:30 seating, 20 minutes is usually just fine. :) And if you go later and ask for waterside be prepared for them to tell you that the wait will be really long (40 min) but wait anyway, it probably won't be that long. :)

Aloha from Hawaii,

I have to agree with everyone Blue Bayou has a fantastic atmosphere, but we didn't care for the Monte Crisco Sandwhich, I know thats a favorite for most but I prefer my ham sandwhich not sweet and not fried. I also agree that Steak House 55 is great, that's our favorite but it is kinda pricey.

Another idea if you don't mind eating at Downtown Disney instead of in the park is Rainforest Cafe, very good prices, large portions for sharing and fun family atmosphere.

Also a little tip since you said you were on a tight budget this trip, when we go to DL I go on-line and print up all the menu's from all the restaurants in Disneyland, Cali Adventure, Downtown Disney & All 3 DL Hotels I put it in a folder & take it with us. That way we are able to see before had what we want to eat, the prices and sometimes we would order take out and get all kids meals, the portions are large enough for any adult most times and the prices is right.

I hope this helps,

Aloha Zena Wright :cool2:
