I plan to get silhouettes done this year for my whole family and have been reading up on it before we go.

Most threads that cover this souvenir seem to be targeted for Disneyland, and there Sylvia gets the highest marks for the most accurate portraits.

I'm wondering if there is a "Sylvia" for WDW, or tips to find the best silhouette artist while we're there.

Thanks!

There is a cart in the alley to the right off Main Street. They do a awesome silhouettes with scissors. We get a new one of our kids every time we go back "home". They are some of my wife's most treasured pieces.

We had Silhouettes done by Silvia at Disneyland too - she is awesome and the gentleman that we had at Magic Kingdom did just as great of a job. My son has naturally curly hair and both artists captured them perfectly. As the above poster said, you will find the Silhouette cart half way down Main Street before the Main Street Bakery on a little side street. I love this as a soveniour item and I also love the Crystal Etching that you can have done at Epcot.:thumbsup2

Oh, I had my silhouette done in Disneyland by Cindi Harwood when I worked there in the gift shop, she was the best silhouette artist I ever saw. I went back the next week, and she was not there, she went back to college, and the man there, did a very simple silhouette of me, it made me look older. A few years later, at Disneyworld, she was doing silhouettes there, and she did mine again, this time, I had long hair, but we had to wear it off our face, and I was again working in the Main Street Gift shop. I was very excited to be transferred to Florida from Orange County, Ca. and I was also able to be a manager with a girl named Sunny Wachman. I became her friend, and I don't think any silhoeutte artist can equal her work. One day a man named Jon or John Raya did a quick silhouette of me, and asked me out at the same time! It was cute silhouette, but it was simple, and his flirting was not appreciated, but I did go out with him, after park hours, and he also drew my caricature, and in that area, he was amazing! I don't know what happened to either of the artists, but in 2010 in Disneyland the lady there was not good, she had cigarette breath too, and she could not do the silhouettes that were as good as John or Cindi. I think the silhouette artists in Disney are not what they used to be, but the caricature artists are still great. Disney should not allow bad silhouette artists in the park, and I am not sure why they do now. So bad review for the current Disney artists, good reiview for the ones in 1970s!:wave2:

We had our boys' silhouette made at the cart in Liberty Square (WDW) and love it. I couldn't tell you the name of the guy who did it, but he was quick and got my youngest son's done perfectly, and he was only 2 at the time and hard to keep still!

I like the station in Liberty Square, as it usually seems a little less busy than the one right on Main Street.

The girl who did ours a few years ago on Main Street was great! She also encouraged us to take them to an office shop to have a high quality black and white copy made to make additional gifts for grandparents. (They give you 2 copies but I wanted to keep one.) I never would have thought of that and it worked out perfectly.

That is a fabulous idea!!!

If it is the same guy that did my son's last year - he was amazing! He was 4...and NOT in a good mood, but this guy captured him so PERFECTLY in a matter of seconds! I could not believe how quickly he did it! We are going back in Nov, and plan on getting another done, this time him and his little brother! It is such a great souvenir!

Do you know his name by any chance? I have a very very busy 18 months and triplet 7yo and It's been a tradition that we get it done during our mommy and me trips. This will be the baby's first and it should be interesting. The previous times we had Tom or maybe Tomas and he was awesome but last year we didn't see him when we went with DH.

How much is something like this? Sounds like a great souvenir!

I think they're very reasonable - under $30 as I recall. There are different prices for different ones, like if you just have one person done, it's one price, if they do a double, it's a little more, etc. I know the last one I bought was a double and it was around $25, as I recall, including the frame.

Be aware that the silhouette company isn't Disney-owned and they don't accept room charge, just credit and cash.
