I'm just wondering what people think might be the best, most comfortable shoes for walking the parks. I'm thinking of bringing my Crocs rather than sneakers. Any opinions?

Unisex Adidas sport sandals- many different styles- also can get w/ pink stripes, baby blue stripes and solid black or blue
Also w/ "nubs" or smooth soles
A pic of our style at the link below- my DD has pink stripes, I have blue & the standard white-
All guys in our house have these

We bought ours at Kohl's on sale for $14.99 Regular $24.99- Quite often on sale for $19.99 (I bought end of season for our price)

We bring our crocs and sandals and alternate. Our sandals are thicker rubber soled sandals, not the thin no support ones. Had less of a problem last year than when we tried to wear our crocs everyday. I think they each just rub your feet differently.
I always overpack shoes. (We brought more last trip but never used them.) We need a whole suitcase just for all of our shoes. This year just 1 pair crocs, 1 pair sandals, and 1 pair flip flops for each person. That should just fit in each person's suitcase considering we will have to be wearing one of those pairs.

Make sure, whatever your choice, you break the shoes in before going. Even Crocs can use a week or so of regular wear to get ready for the pounding you'll give them at Disney.

If you have any issues like sciatica or knee problems, I'd stay away from any flip-flop style sandal. The trudge that these require will make anything like that flare up quickly.

Having more than one option is also a good idea since it is entirely possible your shoes will get very wet at some point.

I really liked my soft footbed Birks the last time. I had gotten a blister on the end of my pinky toe and needed to not wear my sneakers for a couple of days. No problems.

Broken in Adidas tennis shoes. I have back issues and need the support only tennis shoes seem to provide.

I alternated between my crocs and my teva flip flops. I was fine the whole trip. My kids alternate between crocs and their Keen's.

New Balance is IMHO, the best "tennis" shoe you can buy.
Or sneaker, whatever word we use.

Each person has their favorite style of shoe to wear in the park. Our last trip I even saw a lady in heals! We saw her first thing in the morning and I thought, give that an hour and she will be changing. Later that day, I saw her standing in line for RnR and she was still going strong. (not for me)

The only advise I would give you is to wear them for walking trips before you go. We always try to walk a few miles each night the weeks leading upto the trip. That way if we have a pair of shoes that gives us a problem, we know not to take them.

Have a great trip!

I wear Merrill sandels, they are worth every penny. My feet and leggs are never sore or tired. Great arch support.:)

My vote is for Crocs.
I brought my Disney crocs and sneakers (as did DH)...after the first afternoon walking World Showcase in my sneakers, my feet were in agony! I switched to Crocs the next day...the sneakers spent the week in the suitcase after that.
LOVED my Crocs...my feet never hurt and if they got wet (and it did rain!!) they dried quick enough.

Threads about best footwear, clothing, strollers, coolers, purses etc... are best located on the Disney TIPS board and I'll be moving this one there.

Thanks,

Knox

Ask a dozen people which shoe is best, and you'll get a dozen different answers!;)

My advise is to bring at least two pair of different, well broken in, shoes. The shoes should fit your feet totally different, so if you end up with a hot spot or blister in one pair, you can still wear the other. Personally, I have one pair of Easy Spirit walkers, and one pair of Propet walkers that I alternate. The Propet shoes are machine washable, so I wear those if it's rainy or if I think I'll be on wet rides. They are both supportive, but fit my feet totally different. My feet get tired, but they don't hurt.

I also pack a pair of flip flops, just for using in the room and around the resort.

Please ignore all the advice you get here. Listen to your feet, not the DIS, on this question. Everybody's feet are different and what works for one probably won't work for you. You need to go to your closet and pull out the two most comfortable, broken-in pairs of shoes you have. Those are the ones to bring.

We bought these:

for me, my mom and my DD for our last trip in August. I loved them because they were very airy, had great arch/sole support, dried easily and were more like a sneaker than a sandal. I am not a sandal person, but I was afraid if my sneakers got wet they'd never dry in the humidity. Both my DD and I wore these with socks and had no problems. I wore my sneakers one day and realized my feet were happier in the Merrills. My mom wore her well worn sneakers and after a few days, she had major blisters on her feet. She switched over to her Merrills and her feet thanked her for it!
