What does everyone put their toddlers in for long days at disney? Nikes? What about Toms, are those a bad choice?

The first year we went to Disney we had our daughter in runners. Good runners. She complained that her feet were hot and sore. For the last two years we have had her in Tevas and swear by them so much we bought them for ourselves and have turned Disney going friends onto them. They do . They are incredibly supportive, she can run and jump without go over on her ankles. They have a nice lining so from the first time your child wears them there is no rubbing or breaking them in. They dry fast, which is perfect for the splash pads and water rides available. The sole is very flexible and cushioned. Teva has many kinds but this is my favorite. Our daughter wears them all summer long and can walk for hours in them. If choosing what to dress your kids in, can I recommend moisture wicking gear? Target and many other chains carry their own. Target carries Champion gear. We have a full moisture wicking wardrobe for Disney. Avoid sticky cotton sticking to your skin and the plus side I that it dries fast and is easily washed if doing laundry mid trip.
Good luck!

I like either Pediped or See Kai Run sandals or shoes, they are so soft and flexible.

I know many may disagree, but my son loved crocs. They allow his feet to be breathable, if they got wet it didn't matter, and he could walk hours in them and still feel comfy. We always alternated between crocs and runners ( stride rites). I think having 2 pairs of shoes to alternate between is good advice for toddlers and adults.

What ever you get, let him break them in for a week or two before going to the park and they will be much more comfortable.

Im really like these, do you know what the sizes run. Both my girls ages 2&3 wear either a 7 or 8 depending on the brand of shoes. In comparison to other shoes what is the fit of this brand. Are they available in stores or just online?

I see very young kids wearing Toms a lot, with the front toes shredded. I wonder if they were just old shoes when they got to the park, or if there's a really a design flaw and a few days in the parks will shred them.

Based on the number of kids I see being carried around with one shoe off, the best shoes are ones that the kid can't take off by themselves!

The only shoes my son wears are Stride Rite. They are durable, comfortable and they have some shoes/sandals combos. Very breathable shoes, some are even washable. My son loves them.

I second Stride Rite. We used them for both of our kids at both DL and WDW and had not problems with sore feet, even after long days in the park. They provide great foot support, plus they have plenty of Disney-themed options.

I'd go with whatever the child uses regularly. I wouldn't buy anything new or different without some break-in and get-used-to time.

I have always had my children and grandchildren wear shoes or sandals that cover their toes because little kids tend to get lost among all the adults around them and get their toes stepped on.

Another vote for Stride-rite and for covered toes. DS usually wears Stride-Rite and they have great support and cushioning for his feet. If he wears sandals, we get the covered toe design to avoid stubbed toes and give some protection from getting stepped on or beat up.

And I also agree that whatever the child wears, they should wear them a ton and break them in well before the trip.

We just let her wear her summer sandals. She spent most of the travel time across the parks in her stroller, and we carried her short distances between rides. Her feet didn't get enough time on the ground to be sore. When we went in December she wore her boots.

We've had good luck with Toms, as they can get wet but still dry relatively quickly, and they are also breathable. We've also had good luck with Keen sandals, and I've heard really good things about Salt Water sandals as well.

With all that said, on our last trip my DD insisted on wearing her sparkly red Jessie boots all day, but we kept a pair of Toms in the stroller to toss on when her feet got too hot or she might get wet!

@neonderlyn They have toddler and child sizes. We are in Canada and we buy ours at Kiddie Kobbler. I have also seen them at Soft Moc Warehouse and sometimes at Payless. I have heard good things about Keen and Merrill. I would just focus on arch support because that is where they seem to tire.

In WDW my kids wore good walking shoes during the day (stride rite is what they normally wear). After our afternoon break they wore crocs. They are both shoe types they wear regularly and I knew did not irritate their feet. Like someone else said, we found the key to be switching between 2 good pairs of shoes.
