Actually, arent all toddlers non-stop :smooth: can anyone tell me what the best sneakers/shoes are you've found, we have 2 toddlers & want to buy something that will keep their feet happy when out of the stroller THANKS :wizard:

I am a fan of Stride Rite shoes. My DD(20 months) loves her sandals from Stride Rite, but she also has a pair of Keds and Nikes that she seems to like. I haven't tried the Stride Rite sneakers yet, and I would like to get her a pair of toddler Crocs since they look like they would be really confortable.

Much to the dismay of my DH, she seems to have inherited my love of shoes

Hope that helps!

When my toddlers went to Disney, I alternated tennis shoes with sandals. I prefer Stride Rite. And it's best to go to a store where they know how to fit kids shoes.

I did the same thing Stride Rite sandals/keds tennis shoes fitted at Stride-Rite.

I agree, Stride Rite are awesome. My 2-year-old son is wearing some SR sneakers right now (they flash - he thinks they're cool!). My dad once told me never to skimp on my kids shoes. He grew up poor and always wore hand-me-downs that fit someone else's feet.

I take my kids to the Stride Rite store or another children's shoe store where they really know how to fit a child's foot. I've also found that these stores carry a large selection of shoes in wider sizes (most toddlers wear a wide size, but most department-store-type places don't carry wide). Everytime I think I'm going to save some money and buy shoes at a department store, I end up going to the children's store and buying new ones because the cheap ones don't fit. Actually, I have a pair of Skechers sitting in the car right now to take back to Kohl's since they're too narrow for him...

There are a lot of other brands that I've gotten for my kids, but the constant is that I've gotten them at the children's shoe store or Stride Rite to ensure a good fit!

Happy shopping!

One last note - if you're getting sandals for a toddler, I would recommend a style with a closed toe on it to avoid stubbing, and a closed heel on the back as well! Stride Rite sells lots in this style!

I just realized, ds only has Robeez, can he wear these at WDW? :confused3 He will be 12 mos. at that time so walking "some" (possibly) but not all the time. I guess he will be mostly in the stroller. I'm not worried about the shoes getting ruined. I just don't want to buy any hard-soled shoes for him and I'm wondering if his Robeez will cut it. Thanks.

there are soft soled tennis shoes but I don't see a really big need to go out and buy those. he will do fine with Robeez and its great for them to have good flexibilty of their foots. My dd did barefoot(she started at 9 months and was walking alone at 10 months) until about 14 months when I finally bought her first pair of shoes since it was warming up and our pavement gets extremely hot here in Arizona. She did not like shoes at all. I almost returned them because she refused to walk in them she would go back to crawling which she never did.

If your not worried about ruining them let him go in them. If hes only walking a little though he'll likely sit in stroller most of the time so I think you could get by with what you got.

My son (18 months) only has Robeez and Shooshoos (like Robeez). We go to Disneyland all the time and he is fine with these types of shoes. They work great!

Honestly, I'd be worried about my son hurting his feet (stubbing his toe, getting stepped on or something) if he were just wearing his Robeez at the parks. I've always taken DS to Stride Rite or to our local children's shoe store, but I'm ashamed to admit that I bought his last pair at Payless. They fit his feet just fine (better, in fact, than the XW Stride Rites I had been buying), they had Cookie Monster on them (which sealed the deal for him), and they only cost $16.

I'll probably switch to European children's shoes next, though. Stride Rite and Payless are both made in China, and many of the Stride Rites are made from man-made materials these days. I'm hoping his foot will narrow down enough as he gets older to be able to wear the nice leather Elephanten shoes our local store carries.

We have had great luck with stride rite sneakers. My three kids (5,5,2) all wear them and have never had a problem. In addition, my two boys love Merrels - they slip on jungle mocs and some similar styles. The merrels also have mesh versions which are nice and cool for the summer, or trips to florida.

I think it is a good idea to bring two pairs to disney per child and switch off either each day, or switch off mid day.

Finally, I would recommend not getting new shoes especially for the trip. Bring things you know are comfortable.

Rowlf: They aren't making Elefanten shoes anymore! Whats in the stores is whats left. They are going by another name though I just can't remember it. I found this out at Nordstroms this year.

Thanks for the good info! We have twins so we got their 1st shoes @ stride rite - Were not cheap by any means but frugal - the $84 for 2 prs of shoes (w/ twins discount) they grew out of in 4 mos is crazy! I bought elefantens for the fall on ebay (1/3 price of online & we have no stores close by) but for all theyre cracked up to be wasnt overly impressed, the exception being it was easy to dress my kids as they had an elephant on them & they found that neat! Maybe I will check out payless, didnt know they had W/XW sizes there??!! & will definately buy a month or so before we go to break in...
Does everyone normally briing a couple pairs of shoes for their toddlers? sneaks/sandals :confused3 want to be prepared but hate overpacking too :teeth: thanks again :goodvibes

ANyone have experience w/ these, are they good quality/comfort? Run wide/narrow? TIA :flower:

I brought several pairs of shoes for my 2 yo dd in May. She chose to wear her white L'amour sandals the entire week. Of course, it was hot; and she chose to ride in the stroller most of the time. I hadn't expected this, since she usually refuses to ride. Not that I'm complaining!!!

I have 3 children, so I've pretty much tried all the shoes that are out there. As toddlers, my 2 boys had to wear mostly Stride Rites because of their wide, wide feet. Stride Rite is one of the few brands that comes really wide. What I don't like about Stride Rite is how the toes wear. Out of the many, many pairs of Stride Rite athletic shoes the kids have had over the years, all but one pair dd had last year looked worn at the toes after only a few wearings. I had much better luck with Elefantens but have heard they are now being manufactured in China and are much inferior to what we bought when dd was a baby. For looks and comfort, Bear Feet have been worth the price for both ds and dd. DD currently has 4 pairs of Bear Feet sandals for summer. They are great!
