We are headed to Disney next month and both of my sons (11 and 8) need new shoes anyway, so I am hoping you all have some recommendations for what to wear for the long park days. Thanks for any tips!

I bought my kids Keens before we went. I ended up getting me a pair I liked them so much. They were comfortable and dried fast. I did buy my youngest water shoes from walmart since I don't have another kid in the house to hand them down to, before our trip was over the sole on one came off. No blisters or anything just didn't hold up, and she was in a stroller a lot.

We do Chacos. The arch support makes them comfy for standing and walking and they dry quickly after a water ride. :)

whatever their regular tennis/sneaker shoe is

whatever you do, make sure they get them worn in before you go (to keep from blistering)

If you are going in summer I would not wear tennis shoes/socks because you never know when there will be a passing storm. It can be miserable walking around in wet shoes. We all wore Keens last summer and I am still wearing mine because they are so comfortable! I like the Keen Venice H2's. My husband has Newports. My 7 year old twins wore Keen Whisper and Newport. My oldest (12) wore Teva Tirras or Teva Mush flip flops. This year I just ordered all new Teva Hurricanes for the twins and Zirras for the teenager. Their outgrown "Disney shoes" from last year are for sale on ebay.

having both a good set of tennis shoes and a really awesome sandal (like Chacos or Keens or Tevas) is a great plan. You can alternate.

Just bought both my girls Teva's and they LOVED them! my girls need good arch support etc and Its so hard finding good sandals for them but took the sugestions from several DISers and i'm so glad I did :cool1:

We bring 2-3 pairs of shoes so we can switch during the day or every other days. We have liked Teva Mush flip-flops, crocs, keens, and walking shoes.

Whatever is comfortable for THEM!!!:thumbsup2

Most 11 yr old boys (middle school) wouldn't be caught dead or otherwise in a sandal unless it was on the way to a pool (unless it's a Chicago area hang up):dance3:

My DS12 wore Teva and my DD7 wore Chacos. They wore flip flops to the pool.

We all wear Keens. Comfortable, dry fast, etc. They are not very feminine, and I struggle with that, but I try to tell myself that taking care of my feet at Disney is more important than making sure they look pretty. :-)

And while it is certainly preferable to "break in" any shoe before a Disney trip, my kids have worn them at WDW before just out of the box, and didn't have any problems. And we put in some serious mileage at WDW! :-)

We all do Keens. Last year we bought them and they arrived on our porch the day before our trip, so not worn in at all. They were perfect. They dry quickly after getting wet, and are comfortable. I bought neutral colors so they can be handed down from kid to kid.

I'm going to bring them / buy them a nice, light weight pair of running shoes (Reebox has great ones) and a pair of flip flops.

Keens?! What are Keens?! LOL, I must Google this, I've never heard of them!

My boys wear Crocs, husband wears Reef sandals, and I either wear my Rainbow sandals or my New Balance trail sneakers.

Good sandals are a great idea, as we move more efficiently when we are close to barefoot. ;) What did you end up getting, OP?
