I'm going to *have* to get something because the walking shoes I have weren't good to start with and are blown out.

I currently wear some skechers (a no support kind) or Chucks when I am not wearing boots.

Its going to be cold, so I am bringing my cute warm boots. But I should probably have something else for when my feet get tired of the boots-- something supportive, right?

I wore the old run/ walk shoes last three trips (same shoes!) and they did great.

Question is: has anyone tried the new fitness shoes like the shape-ups? I was looking at the Reeboks... are they good for the parks?

Thanks!

new balance leather shoes. Okay I have trail new balance that wear in the summer.

My favorite park shoes are an old worn in pair of nikes and a pair of crocs (with socks, otherwise I get blisters.) I have a pair of Sketcher Shape Ups that I had worn to walk 2 miles a day for about 2 months and I wore them to Disneyland for a day and thought I might die. The balls of my feet hurt like I had been walking around in high heels all day. Now, I'm not anywhere close to physically fit and have the lowest possible threshold for pain and discomfort, so your experience may certainly vary but I will never wear any sort of shape up shoes when walking around all day again!

I wore Reebok Ree-tone's on our trip in October and I LOVED them. I now own 2 pair and I love them. I wear one pair all the time and the other are my gym sneakers. I'm not sure they actually do any "toning", but I no feet or back issues at all after 4 long days of walking and if I don't have on good sneaks, my back & feet let me know it :)

BTW, you can avoid some of the sticker shock if you can shop and Kohl's with a coupon. I've gotten both of mine there :thumbsup2

I am not sure that you need to take boots with you in January. Maybe it's b/c I'm from Ohio, but I wouldn't bother taking boots. We have gone in January several times and there are even times we were able to go swimming b/c it was 80.

I'm from Ohio and I had my Emus with me in December because I wore them on the plane down.

I ended up wearing my Emu boots 4 out of the 6 days we were there. The weather ranged from 25-55 degrees the days I wore my boots.

I would definitely bring them.

I would be wary of taking toning shoes. I know some people would swear by them, but you really need to know how your body deals with that particular shoe.

I had to buy a new pair of tennis shoes about two months ago, and toning shoes were the only kind I found that felt good. Ever since then I have had regular leg, foot, and knee pain just from regular wear to work or grocery shopping (i.e. not long distances). I just found a good regular pair of New Balance walking shoes that I can't wait to start wearing.

You might want the boots for the cold, but only if they are comfortable enough to wear for several hours on your feet and walking. Last Jan we were there in 30 degree temps and my tennis shoes were fine for warmth.

Whatever you buy, break them in before your trip! I generally take my sneakers and privos (flip/flops for the pool).

My Shape-Ups SAVED my feet during my last trip. I would always get blisters and severe sharp pains in my feet, but NOT with my last trip...and it is all due to the shoes I was wearing. I also bought the Therlo socks that were recommended to me by a Diser. it felt like I was walking on air the entire time....and I do Disney commando!

I was a crocs/fit flops girl but I'd have frozen my toes off in Dec. I have Asics running shoes and they were great! :) You couldn't pay me to wear Uggs etc to the parks.
