Needing new sheets and was just listening to consumer reports on the Today show. He said that thread count doesnt matter. I guess I would have to agree. I love my Tshirt sheets for the most part. After my 600 thraed count sheets wore out I couldnt think about going back to anything less than that and I haven't been able to afford them since LOL

So what are your favourite sheets?

The best I have ever slept on was at a Holiday Inn Express.

I commented at checkout how wonderful the bed was. They said they get that a lot. Then they handed me a pamplet to purchase the sheets. They also have it on their website. http://www.awardhq.com/servlet/DisplayPage?browse=HomePage

Seriously, if I could have picked up that whole bed and strapped it on the back of the Harley, it would have been coming home with me!!!!!!

I love their sheets too!

My 350 thread count, $9.99 clearance Martha Stewart sheets from KMart. They are THE BEST sheets. I have tired all kinds of thread counts, etc. and I keep coming back to these. It is more important to get 100% Cotton than anything.

I got a sheet set from Costco this past cold season that are made of a kind of polar fleece....they literally made so much of a difference in my comfort this past winter it's hard to quantify.

I have always been very satisfied in any of the sheet sets I've gotten from Costco, including an outrageously-high thread-count cotton set.

agnes!

I am wondering the same thing...

We have some very nice, high thread count, Egyptian cotton sheets...
But, to me, they are too heavy (they actually have a LOT of weight..., and they do not 'breathe'!!!! They also are NOT wrinkle free. I have read that Egyptian Cotton can often have problems with wrinkle.

Pozy, that kind of scares me off about the sheets you posted... Are they not 'heavy'... Do they 'breathe' like cotton should?

I am interested in the replies to this thread. I am not picky in terms of thread count, but man, I just want to buy some sheets that do not pill. In the past 6months I have purchased both polar fleece sheets (can't remember where I got them) and jersey sheets (Target) and both pilled horribly and I ended up throwing them out.

Egyptian cotton sheets from Bed, Bath & Beyond. My favorite!

Northern Nights thick flannel sheets from QVC. The thicker ones. They last forever & don't pill up. Have several sets & just love them. Been using for years. Even on our guest bed.

I actually hate putting regular cotton sheets on our bed now. They feel cold. lol

We also love Holiday Inn Express.

I will start of by saying that I am like The Princess and the Pea when it comes to mattresses and bedding. It's awful.

The best pair of sheets I own are a Wamsutta pair that my mom got me for Christmas about 12 years ago. I won't use any other sheets. In a pinch, I have a 28 year old set that I got from "Pfaltzgraff" way back in the day. They are great sheets but hardly fit my mattress.

That's it. I've thrown away so many I can't tell you.

I've bought some of the Martha Stewart ones for my son's bed (previously mentioned). They are okay and my son is okay with them.

I've bought the high thread count Kirkland (Costco) brand for my son--they are a beautiful brown but he hates them. I don't care for them either, just can't put my finger on it.

If you are a sheet prima donna, don't ever buy from Target. They've gotten really bad. Even my daughter, who doesn't care about much, couldn't sleep on the ones from Target that I bought for her dorm room. I ended up having to get another XL pair from Macy's (Style and Company) that felt pretty good but I haven't slept on them. Will be anxious to feel them when she gets home this summer.

So basically, I'm paralyzed with fear on getting new sheets because I hate the thought of wasting $100 or more.

without a doubt, the Frette linens on the beds at the Hermitage Hotel in Nashville, TN. They were amazing! I will be saving my pennies over the next several years to be able to recreate that exact bed in my own home!

Ralph Lauren sheets do not pill. You can get them for decent prices sometimes at places like Marshalls or TJ Maxx, or at the outlets. Or, on sale at dept. stores. We have a couple of sets that we've had for so long the printed-on damask design has faded, but they are sooo soft and have never pilled, so we just keep using them.

Agreed! We stayed there over easter weekend and loooved the sheets and the bed.

The Best sheets were Fieldcrest's high end line Charisma 360 or 420 thread count when they were still made in the USA; I particularly liked the pattern Biltmore Lace. They stopped being made about 6 years ago, but the name was sold and are now manufactured off shore--they do not compare.

Frette, Anichini, Sferra, Yves Delorme all make sheets which are okay--but for my money the original Charisma sheet is the tops. I also really like Anne De Solene for top of bed: duvet, shams, etc--they have really nice patterns. Oops, almost forgot Nancy Koltes--very nice sheeting also.

(I work part-time for years in the bed linen department at Bloomingdales. I love bedding. Yes, I travel with my own sheeting.)

Ok, there are different levels of sheets available at all these stores and if you bought the "dorm" sheets from Target, you might as well buy sandpaper. I bought basic Martha one's for the kids, they are horrible but her nicer quality ones are VERY good. DS15 has some bamboo sheets from Target on his bed right now and they are very nice. They get better with each washing too.

I bought some Wamsutta sheets to coordinate with my bedding and I HATE them. Here I thought I was splurging on some good sheets and they are awful.

Porthault are said to be the finest bed linens in the world. I don't own any but my parents do. Nothing compares. :goodvibes

I've bought my DD both kinds from Target. I bought her bedding at Target years ago, I still have those sheets, they are fine. None of the sets we bought in the last year are nice. So, it's not just the dorm sheets.

The Martha sheets we got were the higher end ones that were sold in K-Mart. They are okay but *I* would not sleep on them. I bought my mom some of the Martha line for Christmas from Macy's. I have yet to hear how she likes them. Probably not much since she's been real quiet about them.

I agree that Wamsutta today stinks. Oh, and I just went an looked and my fave sheets are actually Croscill (12 years ago), not Wamsutta. I did get some Wamsutta when I got married (over 20 years ago and they were find but did not last that long.

A couple of years ago I loaned a friend two twin blow up mattresses and some sheets. Her relatives were raving about how soft the sheets were.

So I decided to go look at the label, etc. when I got them back. They were not even 100% cotton - but I guess they were so soft as I realized they were my sheets from college - DECADES and DECADES old.
