Help, Need a new shampoo! The one I'm using is leaving a residue. The formula was changed and it just feels different but I haven't broken out yet. I'm very allergic to most chemicals so its hard to locate a good product.

Prior to all this I had used Aussie shampoo until the formula was changed and I developed Hives and irritated skin. Before that I had used almost a pure Olive oil(?) Shampoo that was discontinued.

I checked out Trader Joe's but didn't see anything (in stock) with good ingredients. They had only one product on the shelf so that's probably why I didn't find anything good. (parabens on the ingredient label)

Any recommendations on what to try? I haven't had a chance to checkout whole foods shampoo selection but I read one post saying its a good place to go. Shampoo's I can't use include VO5 and Suave and similar brands( Damaged hair, had it falling out in clumps and caused serious allergies.)

Go to this website and check out their shampoo and conditioners. You don't have to have curly hair to use it. It has forever changed my hair. They leave out a lot of the harsh chemicals that are often in shampoos. :thumbsup2

Are you against using salon brand shampoos?

I have very sensitive skin and have trouble with drugstore shampoos (not to mention they make my very fine hair almost unmanageable). I think the drugstore shampoos *can* contain a lot more additives. I can say that I've not had an issue with any salon shampoos so far.

If you don't want to go that route, Target and some other stores sell the Organix brand of shampoos. Some of those lines are sulfate free which is good if you color or highlight your hair. I have not used them but have heard good things about them.

I have been using Alterna's Caviar Shampoo for about 3 years now with no problems. I do get buildup from my other products (texturizers, mousse, and hairspray) so every few days I will do a wash with a cleansing shampoo. I use ISO Cleanse shampoo. It is pretty inexpensive for a salon brand and is the only cleansing shampoo that doesn't make my hair feel like straw.

You could stick with a drugstore brand that gives you some buildup problems and then just add in the cleansing shampoo every few days to remove it.
