We are getting ready to order tickets to The Nutcracker, but are not sure what seats to get? What seats are generally the best for a ballet? We will be getting $35 or $25 tickets. Here are the choices:

Grand Tier Center A-D $50.00
Orchestra Center E-U $50.00
Grand Tier Center E-H $35.00
Grand Tier Sides A-D $35.00
Orchestra V-Z $35.00
Orchestra Sides E-U $35.00
Grand Tier Sides E-H $25.00
Orchestra A-D $25.00

Thanks so much!

What is a Grand Tier - a balcony? Usually you don't want to be too close. Probably Orchestra V-Z would be better than the $35 balcony seats that seem available. Orchestra sides E-U would also seem good. Just guessing without see a chart. We go to the Symphony twice a month and surprisingly, seeing is just as important as hearing. Our seats are Orchestra row T and we think they are the perfect distance.

I *think* it does orchestra, grand tier, balcony at this location. :)

I personally like the orchestra center seats.

Grand tier isn't bad - balcony is pretty much the bloody nose section......

Is this at the Kentucky Center downtown? I would go with the Grand Tier center if you want the "whole picture" view and one of the orchestra sections if you want a really close view. I used to be a dancer myself so I love to sit close enough to really see the feet - but DH thinks I'm a wierdo.

Yes, it is in Whitney Hall at the Kentucky Center for the Arts. Thanks for the input, keep it coming!

It truly depends on what you want to see.

If you like to see faces and expressions, orchestra mid section is for you.

If you like to see patterns of dancing when the entire corp is dancing, an upper level front balcony seat is desireable.

Sitting in the very front of the orchestra is usually tough. You can't see the entire corp dancing. You can, however, see the sweat and strain and hard work that the leads are actually doing.....for some people, that's a thrill....especially if you have a favorite dancer you enjoy watching.

The Nutcracker is a colorful, full ensemble ballet. I think you will enjoy it from virtually any vantage point.

My mother was a dancer. She always buys front center balcony so she can see the entire ballet, including feet. They are usually in the most expensive category for any ballet.

That's right, you continue lifting weights while the real men lift women. ;)

This is the most important aspect of location. So many people think the closer the better, but if you can't see the feet, what's the point(e). :goodvibes
