Leaving for vero and wdw on sun with the families and looking for the best seafood in the area to apease anti-disney brother inlaw. Also keep in mind a well behaved 2 1/2 and 5 year old. Any ideas???

The Ocean Grille is wonderful. I just went there 2 weeks ago and everyone loved their meals (it's my 9yo neice's favorite). I saw other, younger kids too. It's right on the ocean, and has some historical significance in the area. Make sure you leave room for desert, I recommend the raspberry sorbet in the macadamia shell.

If you are nearby Titusville - stop at Dixie Crossroads - wonderful Rock Shrimp.

In Sebastain we like Capt. Hiram's, in Vero Jack Baker's Lobster Shanty and The Patio.

We really enjoyed Capt. Hirams. Its on the water, casual, amd the best crab cakes.

We also enjoy the Patio. The exterior is very unattractive but the food and service are very good.

Capt. Hirams did indeed have wonderful crab cakes and an excellent Derby Pie. They have both indoor and outdoor dining and it's very casual.

If you are in Fort Pierce, try the Manatiki which is right on the marina. It's very casual and you can dine inside, at the bar or on the patio. They had sweet potato fries as a side choice which went well with my fried oysters.

The Ocean Grill was fabulous. Their seafood is tops and the location is nice. They offer many specials based on the catch of the day. All meals are served with a fabulous hot loaf of sourdough bread. If you like dill, try their house dressing. The oysters I had there were to die for. The Ocean Grill is a bit upscale and on a Friday night I saw many locals dressed very nicely. I was dressed casually and felt fine.

We went to the Lobster Shanty on a recommendation from a guest at Vero Beach. Only have one word: AWFUL!

Being from the Boston area, maybe we are seafood snobs of some sort, but this was horrible. Even I make a better Baked Stuff Shrimp and I am a terrible cook!! LOL!!

The atmosphere was nice and so was the staff, but without good food..........................

I would like to try the Patio next time. I have heard great reviews on that.

Try "On the Hook". Seafood is freshest in area. Atmosphere is nothing special but fish jumps off your plate. It is located in Sebastian.

We where there a couple of weeks ago and it was great.

The Black Pearl is also very good.
