We are taking our first trip home in Nov. We have a 1 bedroom SV and I was wondering what is the best savanna view we should request? We stayed there a few years ago and got lucky and got upgraded to a SV. But I'm pretty sure the same room now has a construction view!! LOL

Thanks and by the way - are we there yet?!?

The best savanna view is probably the one you get! LOL!

We just came back two weeks ago. We were in 5344 and 5346 on the end of the Sunset Savannah (I think!). We could see three giraffes, five zebras (including baby Kidani), red river hogs, wildebeests, and some huge cattle-like things called ankoles (sp?).

You need to bring a pack mule with you, however, because the walk out to our room was looooooooooong!

...but the absolute BEST part of that view, however.......the part I have never ONCE seen mentioned........is that we could see Wishes right from our balcony!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Good luck and have a wonderful time!

That is cool that you could see Wishes!!!

When we had the sunset safari in March, we saw the most animals on the Sunset Savanna, and I think that is because it is currently a smaller savanna due to the construction being fenced off. The only thing that bothers me about the Sunset savanna view is the people pens, but the animals are VERY visible there.

Does anyone know why there are people pens on Sunset, but not on Arusha or Uzima??? :confused3

You were lucky, we got 5212 on the first spoke of the sunset savannah. Giant people pen on one side of the balcony, and large driveway with concrete pad on the other side of the balcony (the concrete pad was in front of 3 or 4 double sets of doors which looked like it might be storage). A small area of trees in between with a pond.

We (actually I, ds would never be out on the balcony at that time) saw one lonely ostrich one morning about 6:30.

I would have been happy to trek to the end of the hallway (after all I am a BWV owner) in order to have the view we paid for.

Any way you can make an informed request for a particular savannah and hope for the best.

I loved the lodge, though. I'm just a little bitter about my "savannah view".

Uzima has them as well but probably didn't need as many of them as the Sunset because some of the emergency exits in that part of the building could empty out into the pool area.

My standard room request:

Zebra trail, overlooking Arusha savannah, near the elevator down to the pool area.

The SV view is, IMHO, stellar. It also makes access to the restaurants, pool, arcade, "grab and go", Simba's Clubhouse, and fitness club a bit easier.
