Hi! I've read some of the threads on this, but I want your opinion. I am about to purchase some sandals to wear at Disneyland. They need to have good arch support and cushion for my feet, or else they make my legs and feet ache.:sad2: I prefer a close toe sandal, and am thinking of going with the Jambu J-41 Mango style http://www.j-41.com/item/mango/kj13mgo. Any experience with this brand? I have also looked at the Keens and Tevas. Please let me know what your go to sandal is for Disneyland and why.

Thanks! :)

Both DH and I have been wearing Keens sandals since we first discovered them way back in 1998. We have worn them to both Disneyworld and Disneyland. We haven't had any issues with them.

We both love how comfortable they are to wear all day long without any pain or soreness at the end of the day. They can get wet and dry off easily. They provide toe protection so there is no fear of getting run over by inattentive people, strollers or ECVs.

We have owned several pairs throughout the years. DH uses his current 3 pair in rotation outside of his work shoes daily. I use mine quite frequently as well outside of the Disney parks.

Needless to say, we are huge Keen fans.

Thanks for the info on the Keen sandals. That's a great picture with your matching Keen sandal family!

We all love Keen's in my family, too. No cute picture, though! I think a covered toe is the way to go. I like the Venice H2 and the Whisper styles.

I tried on some Jambu's at DSW, and for my feet, I didn't find them comfortable. Of course, everyone's feet are different.

As someone who works in a shoe store, from my own experience and the experience of my customers, I hear different things about certain brands, but all of them are in the range of what would be considered 'comfort' brands.

I, however, find that J41's are more comfortable in their slip-ons as opposed to their sandals, but I haven't tried too many of the sandals on. It's just that their straps are so dainty and thin that it unnerves me, but that's just my silly irrational concern. I haven't heard anything terrible about the J-41 strappy sandals so I'm assuming they're just fine. Something more like this would stay on better. They do fit a little more snuggly, so go a half-size to a size up depending on your foot.

Keen and Teva sandals I will both recommend as they are our most comfortable and popular walking sandal brands. I'll also throw in a Clarks Privo recommendation. This one here is going to be rather comfortable as the insole technology is going to give you arch support you're looking for and a soft, cushiony bed to absorb the force of your weight as it comes down through your feet and into the insole, but Keen and Teva do the same thing.

Really any of those brands are going to work well for what you're looking for. It's just a matter of going to a place that has most if not all these brands and trying them on (ahem, DSW is usually one of them, if you have a location nearby (since your username says you're in Oregon, there are locations in Portland at Cascade Station, Hillsboro at Tanasbourne Village, and in Tigard at Bridgeport Village. There is one in Eugene, too, but I dunno where you are!) I suggest calling ahead to ask if they have these three brands. ;)

Good luck! I know I'll probably invest in some J-41's myself soon before I go in August.

I prefer an open toe sandal as my feet are probably a size 11.05 - closed-toed 11s would kill my toes after 3 days at the parks, and 12s would be too big and possibly cause friction.

I bought Merrell Siena sandals - best sandal ever! (Well, in my opinion, of course). This style has been discontinued, but there are similar Merrells which look fantastic.

Just throwing out Merrell as an option too! Also found at DSW ;-)

Happy shoe shopping!!

I just discovered Sanuk Yoga Sling 2 flip flops and they have a store in DTD!

I've tried a ton of different sandals and runners and flip flops and my Sanuk's are the only ones that do not give me any issues at all.

I LOVE Teva, I have picky feet, and they are the best, in my opinion!:cool1:

I'd recommend these if you're going to switch your shoes out, which I do with my New Balances and my Clarks Breezy sandals. Both the lack of arch support and the fabric in between the toes concerns me a bit because of the amount of walking you'll be doing at Disneyland. It bothers some people, but it doesn't bother others. I'd just say try it all on first and walk around in the store or at home (as per whatever return policy the store they were purchased from as). If you're not going to be pulling 10+ hours a day at the park(s), something like the Sanuk sandal is going to be mighty comfortable with the recycled yoga mat material in the insole. The cool thing about these sandals is that it's okay if you get them wet, too! So you should have no issues going on the water rides, which is nice because you won't have to worry about ruining them.

I agree with this! LOVE my Sanuks, but I do switch them out. They are super comfortable but lack support so after walking around in them all day, I like to put on my runners. Also agree about the fabric between the toe, but the Sanuks aren't too bad compared to other flips. Still not as comfortable as no fabric between the toes, though! Anyway, I love that they are lightweight, comfy, waterproof and easy to walk in. I then like to put on my running shoes later in the day. I DON'T like Croc flips. Very uncomfortable IMO. I also dislike any sandal/flip that has bumps on the top (where your foot goes). This seems to be popular now and ugh, it's not comfortable to me. I guess it's supposed to give you air or keep your foot from slipping or something but it makes my foot sore after a while.

Thank you for all your input. You've given me some good things to consider, especially hyperminimalism, thanks for your review of the shoes. I will probably go with the great suggestions of switching out shoes during the day. That helps a lot! If anyone has more suggestions I will look into them too.

I'm a so cal girl so I love my Rainbows. The double stacked ones provide plenty of support and once they are broken in they are the most comfortable things ever! They aren't close toed, so probably not exactly what you are looking for, but I figured I'd throw out another option

A lot of the makes on here I don't recognise - probably because they don't sell them over here.

I am thinking of buying Skechers Go Walk - any experience? Wished I had bought some last year as I tried a pair on at the Skechers shop in Garden Walk and decided not to at the time (it was our last day and it would be cold and when we got home - it was October) - however they were much cheaper in the States than over here so may head off to Garden Walk as soon as I get there and take the chance that they wont need 'breaking in'.

Wore tennis shoes last year - they were more comfortable than Crocs - from Topshop over here.

Go Walks are really comfortable, don't get me wrong, but they're more for everyday running errands. They do not have the arch support for the amount of walking you'll be doing at the parks. However, IF you're planning on switching out your shoes during the day, which I highly suggest doing, a Go Walk shoe may last you a few hours at most before you start to feel discomfort. You'll want to stick to brands that focus specifically on the technology used to give you comfort that will last all day. Those brands, for example, are Keen (Everest is another brand you might want to check out. They're like Keen's but with a much nicer price point), Teva, Clarks, J-41, and Merrell (although I find these to be rather stiff in some models) in terms of sandals/walking shoes.

Since you're in the UK, you'll probably want to do a search for nearby shops that supply the brands listed above, if not trying to find them available online with things like free shipping and free returns (I know, it's frustrating not to be able to try them on first!) Since they are some of the most well-known brands, and I do have quite a few customers from western Europe who come into the store (for work), they should be easier to find. Or, like you said, you can just do your shopping in the states. Check out DSW, which is where I work. There's one really close to Disneyland in Anaheim about ten minutes north on La Palma in Buena Park Downtown.

I have very wide & flat feet. ( I swear I have the same feet as Donald Duck!) The only flip-flops I wear are Crocs. I think they are very comfortable. However, if anyone knows of another flip-flop/sandal that is for very wide feet (3E-4E), I'd appreciate it.

I love my Keen's! I wore them on our last trip. I find they run a bit small though. So I always order 1/2 size to 1 size up. (My last pair was 1/2 size)

I do have the Sketchers Go Walk and love them...I wear them at work (retail job). They would work for me in the park in a pinch. Or wear your Keens during the day and then switch it out for the evening in the Go Walks.

Try Easyspirit, Clarks, and some styles of Naturalizers. I would do some research first on their respective websites to see if they offer extra wide widths (WW), which I know for a fact that they do. That way, you can narrow it down to which retailers might carry them in-store or online.
