Best route from Polynesian to Artist point

I will be putting my kids in Neverland at the Poly and would like to have dinner with DH at Artist Point inWilderness lodge. What is the best way to get there and how long should we plan on? Thanks!

Will you have a car? If so, it's very easy - turn left out of the Poly entrance and continue straight on that road until you get to Wilderness Lodge. It's the same road, but it's called Seven Seas Drive outside the Poly - you'll go through the intersection at World Drive and the street suddenly is called Timberline Drive.

If you don't have a car, I'd highly recommend a cab. It's very close by, but not necessary fast using Disney transportation. The cab ride should be about $7 with tip.

If you want to use Disney transportation, you can take the monorail to Magic Kingdom and take the boat from there to Wilderness Lodge. Reverse to return to the Poly, assuming it's within 1 hour of MK closing. Allow an hour for the trip.

ETA: It's 6/10 of a mile, which is so close that it would make me crazy to take Disney transportation, which requires waiting around (unless your timing is very lucky!) and making a connection at a park! That's why I suggest a cab if you don't have your own car.

It probably won't take an hour, but if you have to wait a while for the monorail AND the boat, it could take close to that. It also depends on what time MK is closing that night - if it's an earlier close due to off season or a party that night, you could encounter a long line for the boat.

It will probably take less than an hour, but when you are relying on 2 forms of Disney transportation, you really need to err on the side of caution.

It is a nice boat ride, but I don't know if I'd say it's worth the extra time required. YMMV, of course.

I'd actually take the boat from the Poly to the MK vs. the monorail. The boat goes direct to the MK and leaves you with a shorter walk to the WL boat dock than you would have from the monorail station.

It shouldn't take an hour, but it's best to leave yourself that much time. If you just miss a boat leaving the Poly and the WL boat is pulling out as the boat from the Poly is pulling into the MK dock, you could have 20+ minutes of wait time.

no, it most likely will not take an hour, but the reservation people and I are VERY persistent that you ALLOW an hour for ALL disney transportation! What happens if you get on the monorail when they are switching lines and the trains don't run for 10 minutes? What happens when someone at the contemporary in an ECV needs to be picked up by a cruiser and brought to WL, thus using additional time and throwing off the cycle? Or what happens when a Ferry comes through the water bridge, halting all our traffic and it takes 20 minutes for the boat that just left MK to get back because both boats are stuck on bay lake? They don't tell you to allow an hour for nothing, it's because unexpected things happen. Besides, you're supposed to check in early anyway and if you do, it's quite possible you'll be seated earlier.

If you decide to take Disney transportation, I'd also go with boat/boat rather than monorail/boat

Why take the boat form the Magic Kingdom dock? Use the Contemporary's – avoid the hassle of the crowds. Besides, the smaller launch is much more romantic.

You can always take a taxi. It's about $4.00 plus tip each way.

You can take a boat or monorail to MK, then take a boat or bus to WL(the bus ride is about 5 min once it leaves MK) or you can monorail to the CR and ride the small launch to WL, after 3pm it will go from CR to WL to FW to CR. As others have said, when relying on Disney transportation to go from resort to resort allow about an hour.

If your kids' hearts are not set on the Neverland Club, WL also has a kids club, Simba's Den I think.

I actually didn't think about the monorail to CR then blue route to WL idea. I recommend that. Anytime you can avoid the MK craziness, take the opportunity. Take the monorail to CR, then go to the dock and take the blue route to WL. It's a very very short boat ride, only about 4 minutes depending on if the pilot "power docks"

Thanks everyone for the great info! I think I might see how the crowds look at MK and continue on to CR if they look bad. Don't mind the transportation time if it is not garrenteed to be that bad just a precausion. Would really just like to wander around the world sans kids and get a great dinner too. We'll see what DH thinks Nacroosee's or Artist Point with travel time.

Another option if you don't have a car and don't want to take a taxi is taking the Resort Monorail to the Magic Kingdom and from there the bus to the Wilderness Lodge.
