We are booked to stay at a standard room at the Art of Animation. I wanted to see what rooms are recommended. We don't like to be poolside but would like to be close to transportation buses and/or the main building if possible. Suggestions?

Thanks!
Vicki

I stayed in the Lion King Suite on the 3rd floor with a view of the lake...it was PERFECT. It was fairly close to the main building...but I didn't mind the walk because I have a fitbit and I was trying to get as many steps as possible during my trip. I believe the Finding Nemo suites are closest to the main building.

Hopefully, someone who has stayed will come along. Until then you may want to look at touringplans.com they have maps of the resorts and room view finders. FWIW all the standard (non family suite) rooms are in buildings 7,8 & 9 that are the farthest away from the main building and transportation. I have seen many people complain about the walk to the room. Others used to walking found it to be fine.

I stayed in a Finding Nemo Suite. I didn't request anything, but we ended up getting a lake view and it was beautiful, I think we were on the 3rd floor? - the room was at the far part of the building but we didn't mind at all. We liked the Finding Nemo section because it was close to the main building/bus stop, ect. Next time I would want to try the Cars section - my friends and I ended up spending more time at the Cars pool -it was a lot less crowded. I think they are about the same distance from the main building. Enjoy - it is a beautiful resort!!!

If you are staying in a standard room, not a suite you are in the little mermaid section. It is actually the furthest section from the main hall. If you have stayed at Pop before it is equal to being in the 80’s 90’s section.

Thanks for that, PP, I was thinking the same thing, if you have a standard room, you are in LM section, and not near anything, except maybe your car, if you have one,and if you park in the nearest parking lot to your room. Because if being close to the main building and transportation are very important, maybe switch to Pop and walk over to visit Art of A. (and get room at a discount, perhaps).

For the suites, I have stayed in all 3 sections now. My favorite is Cars. But it all depends,on your favorite characters! And some like LK, because with no pool, it is quieter. Others like the close location of Nemo. (One reason I loved Cars, was the easy walk to the laundry at the Cozy Cone pool.). But I just think the Cars theming is extraordinary, our room faced the courtyard. I loved looking out there, esp. after dark.

But have fun, I love Art of Animation!

At first glance, the 80's/90's section at Pop looks comparable to the LM section at AofA due to the layout of buildings. But distance wise, the 80's/90's section at Pop is much closer to transportation and the main building.

If you want to be "close" to transport at AoA in a Mermaid room, ask for building 9. It's the closest to the parking lot, which you can cut across to get to the bus stops easier, or at least take the sidewalk around the edge. If you walk through the resort every time it seriously takes forever. However they are some of my absolute favorite rooms!
