I'd love one - sending you a PM. Thanks!

We stayed on the 5th floor in the new section in late Jan....we had no noise problems...it was great. Now the laundry room is on the 3rd floor of the new section if that matters.

Have fun...........

Wendy - sent you a pm. Thanks!!

Hi
I did not know that you could request specific rooms at the SOG . I am happy to hear that! Do yo request it before you arrive or when you got there?
I will be there on the 24th Of this month.
M

We will be there then, too!! Maybe we'll bump into each other. I'll be the one with the lime green mickeys with "3GR8KIDS" on them.

This is my first post to the DISboards. This will be our first trip staying at SOG and most importantly our first trip to WDW. Me, my wife, and 3 boys ages 4, 3, and 1.

I am SO excited. With the help of MaggieD's map and the recommendations from this and several other posts I called SOG reservations and asked for connecting rooms (we're going with my parents) on the ground floor in the old building. I like the idea of being closer to the playground and swimming pool.

The woman at SOG was very helpful and said, of course, it was not guaranteed but they would do everything they could to meet my requests. I am so impressed with this hotel and I haven't even stayed there... YET!!!

oh and we'll be there from 4/18-4/26... with a PS for CM on the 18th, a PS for Boma on the 19th, a PS for HDDR on the 20th, a PS for Wishes cruise (which I am still debating) on the 21st and a PS for CP on the 22nd.

Hello & welcome! It sounds like you have a great trip planned :).

I am also very impressed with SOG - they are courteous and patient on the phone. The pics are beautiful. We're very excited to stay there! We've only ever stayed at CR, POR and POFQ. We liked them all. I don't mind not having so much Disney in the actual hotel. The magic is the overall experience! My kids wish there was a slide at the pool. Has anyone seen the arcade that is there? Is there one? If so, what's it like?

The arcade is adjacent to Evergreen's. It's a decent size, and a very 'family' atmosphere. When we were there last year, my BIL (who was 13 at the time) and my DD (8 at the time) kept running back & forth to play games. We were seated in an area where we could actually see them (once you see the setup, you'll know what I'm talking about). It was nice for the grownups to be able to relax with a beer or glass of wine while the kiddos played games.

I am soooo happy that the arcade is a decent one! DD12 and DD14 do like to spend some time in the arcades. They don't normally do this at home, so it has always been part of a vacation 'experience' for them. Also gives DH and I some adult time! So, I guess we like there to be a good arcade, too! :love2:

:cool1: I am so excited about going to WDW and staying at SOG. I am taking my 2 daughter, Ashlee 16 and Kacie 14 This will be our first family trip as mother/daughters.
After reading all the post about SOG I am looking forward to the trip thanks to everyone. :grouphug:

The new website is wonderful! Can the MK fireworks be seen from any of the rooms? We are staying with our niece whose husband is in the military but is in Iraq. My niece does not want to golf, but my husband would like to; can she still get him a discount on golf if she doesn't go?

I don't know which rooms can see fireworks, but I have been told that the top of the garage is a good viewing area. Also my brother, who was our guest, took advantage of the SoG discount on golfing. We did not go with him. He was very happy with the golf courses. SoG sits between two PGA courses. This was a few years ago. One of the best kept secrets at SoG is that there is a concierge desk that every guest is entitled to use. The will help with info and making PS and golfing. I believe they do just about anything that the concierge at the deluxes do except that you have to be on the premises to use them. That is you can't call ahead with requests. I just think a lot of people don't know about this service.

What kinds of things - besides reservations - do concierges do :confused3 ? Have never used this service before..

weregoingtodw - There is a desk in the corner of the lobby adjacent to the checkin by the old section at SoG. It may be where the old lobby was located. It may not be called concierge but the people there provide some of the same services. In the past I have used their help in getting PS for dinners and to arrange golfing form my Brother. They have been a big help to me in my previous trips. I will check them out on April 1 and find out what specific services they provide. Hope this helps.
