Best rooms at Art of Animation

Hey guys! Long time Disney goer here. But is will be my first trip with my boyfriend. We are planning or trip for the middle of October and have already booked our stay at Art of Animation in The Little Mermaid section. What would be the best rooms to request? I was looking at the map and was thinking maybe building 7 facing Hourglass Lake. Any suggestions?

I think you’re spot on - we always request building 7, lake view at AoA. Buildings 7 & 9 are closer to everything than building 8, about a 5 minute walk to lobby, Nemo pool, buses. I would also recommend asking for the top floor to avoid noisy upstairs neighbors.

Thanks so much! One last question, if you don’t mind. Does the sun seem to heat up the room from this direction? I’ve stayed at Pop in a room facing the pool before, and it was like a sauna from the sun always directly hitting the window.

Wish we could do my favorite, Wilderness Lodge, for this trip. But the time and budget just won’t allow for it.

The room temperature always seems comfortable to me - I believe the lake view rooms in building 7 face northeast, so the sun will be rising on that side, but has never been a problem for us. We usually leave the A/C where it's set by default and we keep the curtains open when we're out of the room. If you're worried about it getting too hot, you keep keep the curtains drawn and A/C cranking. Have a fun trip!

My pleasure! We love staying at AoA, such fun theming, great/frequent buses (and you can use POP buses too since it’s so close), and the underwater music in the Nemo pool is so cool! It’s a bit of a walk from the mermaid rooms, but the Cars pool is our favorite because of its “cozy cone cabanas,” perfect for afternoon breaks. Enjoy!
