I am about to make our reservations at the Grand Californian and was wondering if I should book a room with the DCA view or one with a courtyard/disneyland drive view. Those are the 2 options given to me and I wasn't sure what the best location would be for elevators and less noise. Thanks!

Hi mama2ben,
We stayed at the theme park view. Our room was right on top of the lobby. We heard no noise from the park, but heard noise from the panio in the lobby. It only bothered us 1 day because we came in for a nap during the day. Our room was close to the stairs, so everything was conveniot., But in my opionion I wouldn't spend the extra for the theme park veiw again. It was real nice but we didn't sit on the varanda long, but we did enjoy staying at the GCH.

Thanks Pam. I should have stated that the rate is the same for both of our choices. We wouldn't pay any extra for a theme park view. I appreciate your input!

we have stayed at DGC twice, once when it first opened with a theme park view and next a year later with a courtyard view.

Our view of the theme park was right over Napa rose and grizzle rapids ride. We never heard any noises from the theme park in the room, but did when we had the door open. It was pretty exciting to get in our room and be be able to open the door and see and hear the sites of the park. I would choose a theme park view if the cost was not any extra. The walk was a little longer from the lobby.

Our view of the courtyard was of the area where the monarail goes thru. It wasn't that exciting, but a nice view. You got to see a lot of other balconies and people sitting out on their balconies smoking, because it is a courtyard and you do have almost enclosed areas of rooms.

We have had a theme park view twice and a DD view twice and loved them all. We loved the DD view at the holiday to see all the shoppers and hear the Xmas music, but my absolute favorite view is the theme park view. Both time we overlooked Grizzly River Rapids and it was great. We are returning in April and paid $40 more a night from a courtyard view for the theme park view and we think it's worth it. Even at WDW you can't get a room right in one of the theme parks. When we shut the patio doors the rooms were absolutely quiet.
